If you want help:
>Assemble your parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
How to assemble a PC, select components & more (kind of outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1500x - Good but up to 1600 if you can
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; 1600x if you want higher stock clocks
>i7 7700k - only for your wifes son
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming

GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits from high speed RAM

General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
The Ryzen lineup comes with exceptionally good stock coolers. (with the exception of the 1600X) consider using them over any sub 35USD cooler.

Looking to get another hard drive. I have two 1tb wd blues and they're both almost full. I don't want to drop $100-120 on a 2tb wd black if I can help it. all fanboy shitposting aside, how do seagate and toshiba really compare to wd as far as failure rates go?

Budget: 1000$+
Overwatch/Gta5/VR? Resolution 1080p+

I want to have my build be as beastly as possible when gaming in the 1500$+ budget range. I want to be smart with what I am building for my budget. This means having the build as quiet as possible, low temps while running as efficiently I can get it.

Concerns: Powersupply wattage? What is the safest bet? I am aiming for 80+bronze 750W but idk if that is overkill.

Take a look, feedback highly appreciated as I am a first time builder.

No. You need a video card with more than 2 or even 4 GB of memory. Realistically you need 8GB to have something that will be decent for a while. A RX480 or RX580 would be a much better choice than a GTX 770, unfortunately they are out of stock because of buttminers.

Maybe not. FE only gives a 10% increase on hash rates over 580. Turns out HBM is really bad for mining. RX will be weaker (computation wise) to the FE so it might be more expensive (1070 price) but weaker than 580.

>On Windows anyway if you turn off a monitor on HDMI or DP it will disconnect it from the desktop composer

That's not true though. It's a monitor-specific issue, which is down to monitor manufacturers not following specs. Even when a monitor is off (but not unplugged), it's supposed to supply power to certain pins on the cable to let Windows know that it's still there. When it fails to do this, Windows treats it as being completely disconnected. Some monitors suffer from the problem with both connections, some with neither and some with just one. My Dell U2414H, for instance, behaves correctly when connected via HDMI, but not via DisplayPort (the model also has a multitude of other DP-specific bugs).

Ultimately, it's not a Windows issue (rearranging desktop icons is, but has finally been fixed in the latest Windows 10 update). Blame monitor manufacturers for not bothering to do their job properly.

Go for a GTX 1050 or Ti unless you have a freesync monitor, both outperform the RX 560
>>
>>61224093
Should of said it's for a secondary computer to do light gaming nothing new and crazy
>>
>>61224052
That's not part of the spec for DP or HDMI, it's possible to do but not required by the spec. So your Dell simply has that feature via HDMI and not via DP. Either way, Windows should let you defeat anything being set by your hardware. In fact if you have a Quadro/Firepro card you can change the EDID and fix it that way.
>>
>>61224124
If you are going to do light gaming and nothing new and crazy just go buy a second hand intel with iGPU which probably is flooding the market at the moment.

AMD cards historically for the past few gens never outperform their Nvidia counterparts due to shit like kikeworks or drivers. They however have more "raw performance" but the fact that miners are leaving 560 untouched shows you how fucking shit they are. Anyone on a budget should just get the Nvidia equivalent of the 560 unless they have a freesync monitor they want to use.

In games benchmarks you moron. Don't you have a Vega thread to shill on. What the fuck are you doing here Raja? Didn't you say the die will be sub 500mm? Why the fuck is the FE larger than 500mm making it 2 times the size of polaris while only having 50% of the power? Why the fuck is FE drawing 300 watts with 1070 performances? What does this mean for the RX? Is it going to draw more power for more performance? Or less power and perform like shit? When is your software team going to release those magical "40% performance increase" drivers? ANSWER ME RAJA. TELL ME WHY IS RTG SO INCOMPETENT?

What think? Tips I haven't built a PC in 5 years, and the one I built (the thing I'm on now) has been a mess since first assembly, and it's finally dying)

Budget: 2k.

Play games like Fallout 4, Elite Dangerous, Rainbow Six Seige, ect.

Goal for build improvements: Better performance/stability (My current built computer is a POS because I skimped on the MOBO and it all wasn't 100% compatable) I built this list about 4 months ago and while I'm confident in it, I'd love feedback.

>>
>>61224453
I'd consider a Ryzen 7 1700/1700X build rather than a 6700K. If you don't need 100 fps+ at 1080p then it's not going to be better at gaming.

Gelid GC Extreme and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut are superior to MX-4 but it's not a huge deal. If you already have MX-4 then don't bother switching but if not then you might as well get one of those.

Typically you want to get a 32GB kit if you want that much memory. It matters less with Intel builds but AMD builds are more sensitive to memory and having unmatched kits might result in worse timings. Of course it may just work out fine.

You absolutely do not need a 1000W PSU for that build. Unless you intend to get 2 1080 Tis in the future you'll be just fine with 650W.
>>
>>61224564
Nah not really unless you're using this as an archive/cold storage drive.
>>
>>61224810
I'm using it to archive videos.
>>
>>61224787

Thanks for the feedback!
Every 4-5 years when i build a new comp, I have to relearn everything. What's a "32GB Kit"?
>>
>>61224453
>>61224787
Also, go to Kinguin to get a cheap OEM license. You can usually get one for $20-30.
>>
>>61224831
32GB kit refers to the size of the matched memory modules you're buying as a set. So in your build you have 2x 16GB sets that are only matched as pairs. Instead, you would probably want to get a 4x8GB matched set. The price shouldn't be very different in most cases unless they are difficult to match.
>>
>>61224828
Some cause for concern then, run some integrity tests on it and see if passes your muster.

Hey it's me again, gotta say, I've new to PC Part Picker and so far I'm loving it.

But at the end of my list it notifies me that my MOBA (maximus ix code) has usb3.0 onboard header, and my selected tower doesn't have a panel for front end usb3.0 ports. That's a super nifty feature for them to include, and I just wonder, is there away of finding towers that have specific ports and such? I also have a tab open for newegg, and no such luck there for that specific of organization. I mean, if I get a MOBA with these cool features, I'm gonna want to use them...

Congrats anon. You have autism. Okay lets go over this again.
A 2nd hand 290x is out warranty, runs hotter and louder and is priced the same (it is not 170 you imbecile) as the 1060.
I have actually found some real benchmarks and not pseudo benchmarks vs the 390.
http://www.babeltechreviews.com/rx-480-vs-290x-vs-gtx-1060-amd-neglected-hawaii-35-games-benchmarked/view-all/
And really they perform around the same for some games while 1060 beats the 290x in others.
So really you have to be a huge moron to buy a 2nd hand 290x in the current GPU market.

Not bad, have you considered the Ryzen 5 1600? It might be a good, possibly cheaper alternative. If you get a Ryzen I suggest a B350 motherboard. It comes with a stock cooler as well.

750W PSU might be overkill unless you plan on 2 GPU's. I recommend a 550W.

Also nice SSD, might have to go get one myself.

Its rumored that despite the ETH devs claiming that it has anti-ASIC features the only thing preventing people from making ASIC miners is that SoC is about to be added to ETH which would make any ASIC they made pointless
Meaning as soon as ETH adds SoC and the first ASIC miner for ETH is made, GPU mining will immediately become unviable and miners will try to liquidate all their GPUs to buy the ASIC miners
So watch for news of ETH adding SoC, because not too long after that you should be able to buy some second hand GPUs from miners dirt cheap

By my own unsourced estimations I think that you'll be able to buy RX 580s for $150 or less from miners

Hi guys,
~1k budget here, I'm mostly using this for 3D graphics work and Unity development as well as some auto CAD for engineering.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8JpcsJ

>>total is 850$ build, so I can throw in around 200$ for improvements!

Ofc, SSD is optional and so is the wifi receiver.
Is this good bros?
Could I throw in an extra 200$ on something?
