Help me /g/, my old HD6970 just went full retard and is blasting its fan at 100% all the time. Controlling the fan manually in CCC doesnt do shit, and Ive already cleaned and updated drivers and nothing works.
GPU-Z is showing some bizarre shit like -165C and 1000+C on GPU, pic related.
Send help, Im going deaf.
clean reinstall drivers with DDU

>Ive already cleaned and updated drivers and nothing works.
Did this using DDU in safe mode.

The fan controller has failed. Not much to be done other than installing a third party cooler, but is it really worth it for a 6970?

Get newest GPU-Z version 2.1 instead of using an ancient version 0.5?

>but is it really worth it for a 6970?
I suppose not, but is it really worth to buy a new GPU now, with all the prices inflated to hell because of those miners? How long do I need to wait for the prices to be normal again? Also, Ive actually been waiting™ for vega to come out for some months now(hoping that it would lower the 1070 price, or be good enough to buy it).

Youve got a point but what will new version of GPU-Z change? Heres a screenshot from CCC
You can attach the gpu's fan connector to a motherboard case fan header with a 2 to 3 pin molex adapter. It's a hack, but at least you'll get sone quiet

You're using a software from when the GPU was first being released without proper software updates and such.
You're running on a 6+ year old software.
Yes, there's a 6 years worth of bug fixes and new updates inbetween the version 0.5.3 and 2.1
Fucking update it before making shitty posts you god damn fucking nigger.
unless you have a reference card you should be able to take the old fans off and use wire or cable ties to put regular case fans directly on the heatsink and controll them fron one of the motherboard fan headers.
It's going to be way quieter and cooler than the stock fans, but without any temp readout from the GPU you will have to guess at the right settings for the fans.

>gpu's fan connector to a motherboard case fan header with a 2 to 3 pin molex adapter.
Sounds good I'll try it

Its ASUS DirectCU 2 so this should also work
Thanks anons

GPU-Z is jus a monitoring tool, dont bully.
"Mini 4-Pin GPU to 4-Pin Fan Adapter" and get a double pwm splitter to control two 4pin pwm fans directly from the gpu

Neat, thanks anon.
>my face until Ill fix this shit
Also, anyone has any answers to >>61214681
? I want to buy a new GPU but now isnt exactly the best time to do it right?

If you can afford a 1080 or 1080 Ti, those are still reasonably priced because they're not much good for mining. Otherwise look at the used market. Cards which aren't good for mining like Kepler and Maxwell cards are priced normally.

Make sure the voltages match btw
