WinBook TW700

I just ordered one of these refurbished/open box (6 days ago) for $39 shipped on eBay.
It's just missing the Office 365 card which I guess was either stolen or sold separately.

Did I make out? Is there any china PC for cheaper/better quality?

Does this count as chink shit, though? I mean they're sold by MicroCenter in the USA.

I don't know how good it is but I had bought a chink w8 tablet and it was cool and all but the battery was totally trash. Even when I was playing command and conquer generals zero hour, the tablet drained faster than it gained so I couldn't even finish a match before the battery drained.

So, I got it from Gearbest for $40 shipped, be careful and pay attention to where you get it, some sites carry the kailh version of this instead of gateron for the same price, not worth it for kailh.
Funny that it's packaged in the box keys-facedown.
For reference, I've used nothing but clicky keyboards, a Rosewill with cherry blues and currently a Razer Blackwidow X TE (BW) with their Greetech-made clicky switches.
So right out of the box, the keyboard seems rather light compared the BW. Scale's busted, so I can't give proper weights, but I'd say about 3/4 the weight of the BW. There's no flex to the board at all and it feels pretty sturdy, but not as sturdy as the BW, which feels as if you could (and probably can) bludgeon someone to death with it.

The rubber feet are only on the front and the flip up feet are located near the edge, both being on the trim.
To remove the trim, you can use a torx T8 and a small phillips head screwdriver, 2 hex and 1 phillips head on each side. Once they're off, the sides are textured, flat, and very clean. Since the feet are on the trim, they have to be transferred to the body or else it's just gonna slide all over the place. For the back, I had some rubber feet I just tossed on the back. Just works™.

The keycaps are a doubleshot ABS cap with translucent yellow (with yellow LED underneath). The thickness is fairly standard with mainstream keyboards being thin, but not horrible, but being double shot and textured, they go way above the caps on razer, corsair, and logitech keyboards.

The switches are standard Gateron switches, being my first linear keyboard and being used to the light force of blue switches, I opted for the reds. These things are light. Judging by the nickle test, they actuate with only 40g of weight whereas I see reds from other brands be around 45-50 and my BW around the 55g-60g mark.

con't...

con't...

FN commands have the standard media controls, only extra being notable being that you can swap the WASD cluster with the arrow keys with FN + W, looks like it'll be neat for retro games.

There's lighting modes, don't bother, stick with solid. They're all choppy with the exception of the breathing mode if you don't pay too much attention to it. The backlight are amber LEDs with 4 brightness settings, that don't really differ, and off. Max brightness is bright enough to see in direct sunlight, but not as Razer's lights. In the dark, they're not blinding or distracting on the highest setting.

The caps lock and scroll lock keys are what seem to be surface mount blue LEDs, with a little crimp in the metal casing so the light faces the user. Unfortunately, the light is very bright and there's nothing diffusing it, so if you have to have either of the locks activated, they are pretty annoying in most typing conditions. I may try and replace them with some amber lights down the road.

Pros:
Gateron switch buttery smoothness
Sturdy
Doubleshot keycaps
Not bad looking without the yellow trim
Golden/orange-yellow lighting rather than a neon or banana yellow
Very easy to remove trim, feels boarderline like it was meant to be optional
Removable USB cable
(may be a con to some) Micro USB
Nice, thick, braided USB cable

Cons;
No English instructions
Noisy space bar and modifiers with stabilizers
Caps and Scroll Lock lights are bare LEDs that point directly at the user
Slightly tall front side
Risers in the back aren't too great (non rubber and flimsy)
No rubber pads in the back
Nothing to raise the board up with once the trim's off

Currently I'm using it with 40A-L o-rings and though I can safely say it won't be flat out replacing the BW, it's gonna be right along side it for when I want some quiet times or just a break from the tactile switches.

I'll be around for a bit if anyone has anymore questions.

What's a good microphone to get with good quality relative to its price? Hopefully maybe no more than $30.

>btw don't think you can game on these. I have that thing and the input lag is like 0.5s

I'm just trying to record video game footage from oldschool consoles. Do you know what the max resolution it records at?

The description on the AE page says:

>With USB 2.0 connection: the output resolution will be full-screen DVD video resolution up to 720x480 at 30 fps for NTSC and 720 x 576 at 25 fps for PAL

Does this mean it only records at 720x480? I was hoping for a device that can record up to 1080p.

That's fucking RCA you dumb fuck, how the fuck do you expect 1080p on that thing?
If you need better quality on "old school" gaymes, just use your computer, retroarch and any screencap software (windows 10 has one built-in)

Anything that doesn't require that? I'd rather have something I can just plug directly to my computer and be done with it, if possible.

Idk if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone knows why some external HDD enclosures use 1 USB cable, and some use 2?
Yes, i know "standard" enclosures need 2 USBs for the extra current the HD draws, but how come some use only 1? they use different technology? chinks being chinks and not giving a shit?
I've noticed those with 2 USB use a standard micro USB port, while those with only 1 use pic related.
>>
>>61211313
That is a micro USB 3 connector.
I have one that is mini USB and only uses 1 cable. The drive inside is 5V 0.8A. So i guess they just use low power drive and hope people plug it in something that can handle at least 1A.
The others were just being careful because USB spec says each port should be 500mA min.

I'm planning to use it for gaming, skype calls, and that regular stuff. Something that's not expensive but that can also record my voice clearly/without much noise would be the ideal, but I don't know where to look for such. I'd be fine with something like the microphone that comes with the PS4 in terms of quality, worst case scenario.

You should look up videos of that Sony mic and such to get an idea as to how it sounds and to see if that's the kind of sound you really want.
If not, generally, when you find a mic that looks interesting, googling/searching on youtube for higher profile/more popular mics is a good way to verify if they're any good or not as you can easily hear voice and sound samples to get a taste as to what you're getting into.

If you mean AAs then get Eneloops from somewhere other than China. Amazonbasics are rebranded Eneloops. If you're from some third world meme country that doesn't have Amazon then the Xiaomi rechargeable AAs are ok. As for AA chargers I have the Xiaomi one and am very happy with it.

If you mean 18650s or similar then get Panasonic/Sony/LG ones from Gearbest. Do not buy any brand with fire in the name and do not buy from Ali because you will get chinked.

You get what you pay for applies very strongly to batteries. If it looks too good to be true it is.

why not American shit on this blessed day
>>
>>61215032
Nothing's made there any more and foreign made products are often cheaper and of a same or higher quality. "made in america" means nothing, and usually that product is assembled in America from components made globally.

Bought this about a week ago, it came today.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-Mini-studio-microfone-condensador-One-piece-Black-For-Voice-Amplifier-Speaker-Stand-Wired-Headset-Microphone/32391229637.html

First impressions was that it was surprisingly high quality for $1.69. The headband is metal wire coated in a rubber-like material, the mic arm bit itself is metal and the wire is braided.

That's all great, but the problem is that it actually doesn't work as a mic, I plug it in and fuck all happens. I know it's not a problem with my ports or anything as it works fine with other mics I have. Did I get chinked?

Is there a chink alternative to this electric duster? I'm sick of paying for canned air when I need to clean my computers. I'm pretty sure I'd clean them more often too if I had something like this.

I did some searching but couldn't find an equivalent. But it looks like something that could be easily cloned in china for cheap.

Anyone?

I personally own a Compucleaner (not chink), which is cheaper alternative to the Datavac and works just as well.

I tried to clean my PC with canned air once but that was messy and I was shocked how much those things costed. An electric duster is definitelly the way to go. It's a one time investment that will quickly pay itself off in the long run.

Those are way too big. You want something small yet very powerful. If I had a house, I'd just buy one of those big air compressors that goes up to 4000 psi.

>>61216794
VERY interesting! Design seems to be shit tho because it lacks a tank and just blows the air instead. Also, it's 220V only. But I'm glad they're working on something.

>>61216803
>I personally own a Compucleaner (not chink), which is cheaper alternative to the Datavac and works just as well.
Thanks! Will take a look. Was not aware of other brands.

Another problem with canned air is that unless you hold it perfectly upright, it will come out as liquid and will freeze your components and attract air moisture as well. Neither of those are good for your electrical components.

You can get a phantom power supply on ebay for 10 bucks but it might burn your house down

You plug the power supply into the mains, then plug your mic into the power supply, and then plug the power supply into the computer's mic port, and you leave it there.

Hello chink friends, I'm in the market for a new keyboard and it's going to be a mechanical one. /mkg/ is a bit useless when it comes to budget chinkboards so my question for you is: What is the "best" chink keyboard for under 45 bucks with anything but blue switches (fuck that noise)
Size-wise I'm looking at TKL or bigger, I mostly do programming, IRC and light FPS gaming, so typing switches are preferred.
>>
>>61221067
/mkg/ here

this with brown switches (gateron), it looks like shit but at this price your pickings are slim, there are some normal looking ones but they're pretty shit

Thanks anon, much appreciated. The Drevo boards are looking pretty nice, those were among the ones I've had my eyes on. The James donkey one is absolutely butt ugly, but it seems to be the meme of the month, so it might be interesting to look into. Thanks again!

I got a jet fuel spinner in the mail waiting for me after i got back from vacation. i love the color actually that's why i bought. it it's advertised at 6 minute spin but i only counted about 3.5 minutes average on various tests.

I noticed the buttons were a little wobbly and loose so i investigated a little further and disassembled it. the bearing is much smaller than a typical skate/spinner bearing so replacing it will be a bitch. It works like a screw mechanism for the buttons so you have to twist it to take it apart and doesnt pop off like the cheapo ones. so the build quality is there and won't fall apart easily unless i reallly tried to do so. The only drawback to doing this, is that now it has a more pronounced sound when i spin it like a metal sound but didn't impact the total performance. because it is metal it has more weight to it but also makes it feel more satisfying and great in the hand. cost me 15 cdn which is a little pricey. I just wanted to see if these ones are worth it

overall i'd give it a 7.5 which is acceptable. I'll allow it, but i don't think i will have a fun time when it comes to getting a new bearing for it.

pic semi related. spinner with case and heart bonus thing. nevermind the cassette, it was other non chink stuff mail i received as well that same day

Asian shaved ice is basically the same thing as Hawaiian shaved ice. It's just shaved ice that's finer than the typical american style. Korean stores like Paris Baguette have some really fancy shaved ice bowls with mochi, sweet beans, fruit, and all sorts of sauces. Worth checking out if you don't mind paying out the ass for a literal bowl of ice and some toppings.

On the left, there's glue, on the right is nothing. In person, the glue one is evenly lit and easy to look at and see at almost any angle
On the right can't be seen at steeper angles and is harsh to have on when not even looking at it.
Would recommend a small touch of glue

I've never bought more than one product from aliexpress so I have few questions. If I buy like two or more products from different sellers, those items will come in two separated packages or in one? All products go through aliexpress or they go directly from sellers? And how does it look with gearbest and amazon?
>>
>>61222220
I'm more looking into getting some surface mount amber LEDs so it matches the rest.
And amber lights themselves don't seem to be as bright as blue LEDs so beefing up the resistors may not be necessary.
Now all I have to do is actually find surface mount amber LEDs.

aliexpress is like ebay. different sellers so you would get different packages per item, unless you buy multiple from one. don't understand the third question.

Alright, quick update, dicked around with the lighting features and settings some more.
To speed up the animations, you press FN+left arrown, rather than the right arrow, contrary to most other boards on the market. When a lighting effect is in full speed, it's pretty smooth, not as smooth as say the BW, but not bad. When you slow them down, there's no transitioning gradients between keys, so it gets very choppy. I'd still personally stick to static.

Also, when adjusting speeds and brightness, the indicator lights flash when you either reach the maximum or minimum of each respective setting, which to me, is why the brightness of those indicator lights is so important.

And a pic of the back for those who want it. Note no flip up feet (without the trim), and the hexagonal holes. The hexagonal hole things are where the trim mounts into (+a hole under each of the rubber front feet). The 2 rubber feet in the front came from the trim and the disc things in the back are some raised stick on feet things I had laying around, in other words, without the trim, the front's gonna be higher than the back without putting something back there to level it out or raise it.
