I got it for mango/comics/ebooks/emulators

iOS has shit emulators, so I went HD8 and it's good for the price.

I plan to upgrade to a higher end tablet eventually, but this works for now.

Well I emulate on my pc, I used to play snes on phone/tablet but with a touchscreen it's just messy.

I just bought one of these for $39 shipped on eBay after $2 off with a best offer. It's a full PC, though. Not really a cheapo Android thing but it will run Android either through a VM or natively AND it has an HDMI out and full size USB port so you can connect it to a hub/mouse/keyboard and monitor for the full desktop Windows experience. It's an x86 Windows PC so it will run many PC games and emulators like Dolphin or Fallout New Vegas. It will also run Linux if you use a new enough kernel.

I got a Fire HD 8 a couple months ago. No real complaints, other than having to manually install google play store and not having a normal android desktop.

Most people... actually all people use controllers with their tablet (either BT or usb). Unless it is an rpg or something, no one uses touch.

Honestly, the iPad. If you're mostly using it as a shitpost machine, and reading shit, the Retina display is pretty nice.
