Anyone used any oleophobic coating kits or liquid screen protectors? Are they legit or just snake oil? I don't care about "scratch resistance" and other lofty claims, I'd just like my four year old phone to feel slick again.

This Crystalusion stuff in pic related seems to walk a fine line between looking legit and looking like a scam, I don't even care about the money, I don't want to damage the phone.

looking for a phone under 350$

max 5.2". mostly looking for a good (video) camera, smooth operation in general and durability. i live in winland so i'd prefer B20. my thoughts so far:

>huawei nova
proper aluminum. great camera except for stills in shitty lighting and there's no 60fps@1080p. smallest of the bunch, ips screen seems meh

>asus zenfone 3 ze520kl
decent housing. ips+ seems good. great camera with ois and eis, hdr apparently a bit flawed though. asus kinda sketchy as a manufacturer when it comes to updates and QC? im fine with custom ROMs though

>zuk z2 pro
another great camera although the stills are a bit behind in definition. good build quality but has 2.5D glass and shit. zuk might get discontinued but not sure if its a big deal. good amoled.

>moto g5 plus
no comparisons in gsmarena but the camera seems very decent thought it lacks eis/ois and 60fps@1080. ive heard some other critique when it comes to more serious photography. bloat-free android is always nice. a bit larger than the others

>xiaomi mi 5s
nice metal housing, no gorilla glass though. good camera except for no ois or 60fps. ips kinda meh. no b20.

>honor 8
seems great otherwise but even my current s4 mini has a better video camera

idol 5s seems promising too

thoughts?

Look up the bands on the phones info page on GSMArena.com T-Mo/AT&Ts usual bands are 2/4/5/12/17 but 12 and 17 have been rolled into each other so if you see either mentioned it means 700MHz is supported on both T-Mo and AT&T

The only thing I'm not too sure about is B28 support which is seen on some chinkphones, B28 uses the 700MHz spectrum, but slightly different

LeEco Le S3 or Le Max 2
>>
>>61201731
Doesn't matter (yet).

700mhz covers more than 5 bands (12,13,14,17,28,29,44...). Some bands overlap, some don't.

Example: T-Mobile phone supporting band 12 may be usable on att's band 17 network in the future when MFBI is enabled. Same phone will not work on Verizon's band 13 network

http://niviuk.free.fr/lte_band.php
http://niviuk.free.fr/lte_mfbi.php

T-Mobile uses 2/4/12(4 is main)
Att used 2/4/5/17/30 (17 is main)
Verizon uses 2/4/13(13 is main)
Sprint uses 25/26/41
Anyways, RN4 doesn't support 2/12/17. 28 won't help it since t-mo won't implent MFBI anytime soon.

>>61201744
You gonna need to go a bit higher than that.
P10 lite /Honor 6X/ Honor 8 lite(also called P8 2017). the LeEco X520 is also around ~$150 but the company is kinda dying.

They did for B12/17, that's about it for now.

>AT&T Mobility (NYSE: T) said it continues to work with several smaller carriers, likely including T-Mobile US (NYSE:TMUS) and U.S. Cellular (NYSE:USM), to create roaming between different 700 MHz band classes but is still encountering some hurdles.

>Nevertheless, in delivering a progress report on its 700 MHz interoperability efforts to the FCC, AT&T noted that it has turned on the feature in its network that lets its network operate simultaneously in both Band 12 and Band 17 and support devices in both band classes.

Still going to be 1.5-2 hours each way but that is a pretty good improvement.

OK, sexy Asian poster from the last thread here
I'm debating on getting one of these phones:
Redmi Note 4X - seems popular, phablet-sized
ZTE Blade V8 - more features than the G5+
Moto G5+ - great support from Motorola and likely to be up-to-date for a while
Xiaomi Mi5 - Snapdragon 820 processor

Each present great features and are within my budget, but which here has the best price/performance ratio and the most "bang-for-my-buck"?

Ok, I've never had a phone in my life, let alone a smartphone.

I live in the UK and can spend around £200-£300, maybe more if it's a very good phone. I just want it to play music, have a good battery life and be generally pretty sturdy. I'm pretty surprised that most smartphones cost alot more than a decent computer, so I'd rather make a good cheap purchase that lasts a while.

Is it worth to wait for the next compact phone (hoping for it to be a similarily specced midranger with a sd 660 for example) or should I just go for the current compact which features a shitty glossy plastic back?

I bought a used iPhone 6 from Amazon, and they said it had the battery and screen replaced. The battery life is shit which is to be expected of aftermarket batteries, but I didn't expect the screen to be shit too. Question for fellow lg g3 owners
My battery has shit itself (it appears so at least, I'm getting those random reboots and boot loops). No surprise here, it's 3 years old and I've read they usually survive 1 year.
Can you recommend a good 3rd party battery? Only new akken batteries I've found are sold at 900 USD so obvious no go there
Are those akku polar cell any good?
This is the problem I'm having with my g3, if anyone can confirm it's battery related and not the mobo (running fulmics 7.5)
- The phone freezes for a couple seconds and then reboots, most of the times entering boot loop showing the lg logo, then shutting off, then lg logo etc
- Sometimes I get boot certification error or kernel crash, which I think and hope its caused by voltage spikes during boot up caused by the effective battery
- Phone works fine 95% of the time when connected to the wall charger, sometimes it still reboots
- Recovery works perfectly, have tried bumping kernel and reflashing firmware
Any help is GREATLY appreciated

Blade V8 Pro owner here
>awesome battery life and good performance
>Quick charge 2.0 with USB C
>NFC which you don't find at this price
>mSD expansion
>dual 13MP camera
>near stock Android
Only shitty thing is I don't know when/if it will get an update even though the Axon 7 mini did and it has a worse SoC

https://www.sammobile.com/2017/06/27/samsung-ui-fluidity-problem-needs-fixing

>Of all the current generation high-end phones that I have used (and I’ve used most of them), the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have the worst performance when it comes to scrolling and smoothness of UI. Even though the LG G6 and the Google Pixel have the previous-generation Snapdragon 821 processor, they fare better in this regard. Much cheaper phones from Xiaomi have a smoother UI as well.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/04/samsung-galaxy-s8-review-shiny-new-hardware-meets-old-software-habits/5/#h2

>Actual in-app performance on the Galaxy S8 is not great. The Google Pixel raised the bar for what smooth Android performance looks like, and the Galaxy S8 just can't keep up. In the above picture you see Android's built-in GPU profiler mode. Each vertical line is the time it takes to draw a single frame, with the horizontal green bar representing 60FPS. Bars under the green line rendered in time, resulting in smooth 60FPS scrolling. Bars that overshoot the line took too long to render, resulting in a stutter in the UI animation.

>Even in the lowest resolution possible—1480×720—the Galaxy S8 still drops a ton of frames when scrolling complicated apps like the Play Store. The highly optimized Google Pixel—at its full 2560×1440 resolution—is easily getting frames in on time. And even if things do slow down, there's a sizable amount of render time still.

>No matter what resolution you pick on the Galaxy S8, scrolling (especially scrolling slowly) has this weird stutter to it and a slight ghosting effect. Not everyone is sensitive to small performance issue like this, but if you are, you'll find the S8 a little unpleasant to use. I wish Samsung focused more on optimizing the whole display and GPU stack to hit 60FPS and run more smoothly, rather than adopting the raw benchmark focus the company seems to have now.
