Why aren't you mining?
>>
Are Bitcoin even possible to mine anymore?
>>
>>61185007
Yes, but profit is extremely small
>>
>>61185038
what are the other suggestion to mining other than bitcoin?
>>
Because it's easier to just buy crypto and profit.
>>
Your time and money is better spent doing many different things. Get rich quick-schemes are shit and people should stop being jewed every time some cryptocurrency pops up.
>>
>>61185058
ETH
>>
Because I've invested instead. Put in a small amount and it's gradually growing every day. I save on the leccy bill and leave the mining to others.
>>
I made big money by mining chancoin
>>
I mined 200 dogecoin last year, their value went from 0.003 usd to 0.60

Just waiting for the internets to engage turbo retard and make some profits
>>
>>61184983
I see that you couldn't afford a camera.
>>
for the same electricity consumption i could just grow weed instead
>>
>>61185078
>Your time and money is better spent doing many different things.
But you don't have to do anything
>>
>>61185111
Mining is just another form of investing, and right now is worth more than investing with money directly. Assuming the coins wont crash.
>>
>>61185230
Except hunt for cards and build the boxes and configure them for mining, or pray a hefty premium for someone else to do it.
>>
>>61185230
>literally free money bro
>>
>>61185063
This
>>
>>61185259
except the electric bill the wiring the racks hardware etc "free" money
>>
>>61184983
Because the piece of shit Ethereum miner doesn't run on my GPU.
>>
>>61185234
>Assuming the coins won't crash

Oh boy you're in for a sweet surprise.
My advice to you, when the coins crash again, don't panic sell if it's already too late, just let your coins regain value when the hype train starts back up. Also, after a crash a load of miners will sell all their gpus and coins, making it a good time to be a miner.
>>
>>61185256
>hunt for cards
I already have enough card bought before deficit.
>configure them for mining
witch is like 1-2 hours. And already done.

I literally doing nothing.
>>
>>61185313
>building machines
>hours of work
>nothing
A choice has to be made
>>
Too much work, desu. I just bought a few thousand USDs worth of Eth. Figure I'll break even then let the rest sit around. That's what I did with BTC, and now I have 100k worth. Before someone talks about how I could be making way more profit - I have a real job and find daytrading and shit boring.
>>
>>61185063
in bullmarket, yes
in bearmarket, haha no
>>
>>61185111
mining is investing, buying coins in speculating there is a difference
>>
>>61184983
You'r mom

I'm on recedecy medicine and I prefrer mining nurses cunts for free
>>
>>61184983
Is there any cryptocoin that gives more profit per day on a single card than flipping burgers for an hour?
>>
>>61184983
Because I live in a first world country, where the electricity bill doesn't make it viable anymore. Besides, why wasting tons of money into the infrastructure and time to set it up if you can just buy the shit and wait till the price goes full retard.

I don't have the heart to put my parts (and electricity) onto solving an inflated equation
that's mean

>>61185760
>the free money tree doesn't give enough free money
>>
>>61185822
>I can get graphics cards for free
>>
Hmmm, some ballpark figures:

Typical graphics card lifetimes is 4-5 years, assuming 6 hours of usage per day.

Quadruple the hours, quarter the lifetime, so typical mining card lifetime is a year.

Using this: https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/eth

I am getting around $3.3 per day for a $580. $1200 in a year.

So a $600 card (Street price) makes a $600 profit in a year before it dies. That is a $1.65/day for a year in return for an initial investment of $600.

You ARE better off doing one hour of burger flipping / day... Unless your burger flipping pay less than $1.65/hour.
>>
>>61185904
Burger flipping requires active participation :^)
>>
>>61185904
Or you could just do both?
>>
>>61185948
Cryptomining requires an initial investment and a waiting period of 6 months before you see a cent of profit.

>>61185975
Fair point.
>>
>>61185904
>Typical graphics card lifetimes is 4-5 years, assuming 6 hours of usage per day.
Maybe on a laptop with shit cooling. Most of my gpus lasted way longer with similar usage time, just not full load but the temps were always fine.

>>61185948
Buying, assembling and setting up minters doesn't? Besides, it's at least 5x the pay unless you live in some shithole, and you get to see people and might score pussy during the breaks.
>>
>>61185993
And that profit might never come since you never know when the whole market crashes.
>>
>>61185805
This generation of GPUs was truly born into slavery. It breaks my heart.
>>
>>61184983
isn't that amdoge's mining rig?
>>
>>61186091
>flipping burgers
>scoring pussy
Maybe if you're like 16 and meet a coworker
>>
>>61186302
Tons of students do it part-time around here.
>>
>>61185904

This only makes sense if you had to spend an hour a day whipping each GPU to make it mine.
>>
>>61184983
Because cryptocurreny market is about to explode.
>>
>>61184983
How does one start?
>>
>>61184983

Had shitty radeon 6770 at work and despite being super late to game it mined this:

$243.91
0.0999 BTC

>not just buying AMD cards and letting them pay themselves back while you sleep

My HD7950 made me $7000 mining at night.
My Fury X has made me $400 this year mining at night.
When Vega comes out I can flip my Fury X since AMD cards hold value better.

I'm never buying Nvidia again just for this reason.
>>
I'd like to buy atleast 6 rx 580s please.
Thats why I'm not mining.
>>61184983
>>
You guys have no idea

RIGHT NOW, both Nvidia and AMD are spending their money buying obscure currencies, and paying business to accept said currencies, so that it seems that they have real value

in turn since you can buy shit with these virtual currencies, people believe it's a new Bitcoin and mine the shit out of them, buy GPUs at double the street price to do so

so then Nvidia and AMD are happy with huge sales of GPU's

eventually after sales slow down, they stop sponsoring business to accept these coins, and most of them will stop accepting them

then those coins prices and GPU prices will tank
>>
>>61184983
because it's not 2011. All mined out, missed the boat.
>>
>>61185904
I still use my 8800GT
>>61186091
I still use my 550m and I never close my laptop
>>
>>61186559
Stop lie on internet
>>
>>61186936

Not actually lying. Can mine 1 ETC every few days on my Fury X. By the time Vega launches it'll probably have made $500~$600.
This isn't hypothetical moneys either, I always cash out instantly.
>>
Requesting the picture of the guy buying lots of cards. Guy is in a suit talking on a phone, IIRC.
>>
>>61187084
Hi Falcon, are you still doing the guide?
>>
>>61187134
I am. Please do not ask to kill myself, it is midnight here and I am still working, and that kind of talk is just not good for one's mental health.
>>
>>61186578
Exactly. This is a great example of a bubble for future economics classes.
>>
>>61187164
Wasn't planning to. Do you have a link? Was planning to do a new build soon and I think I lost the old link it stopped working. Thanks for keeping it going.
>>
>>61187222
>Thanks for keeping it going.
No problem. Thanks for being nice! Link is in /g/'s sticky.
>>
What are all the Ethereum miners going to start mining when it goes PoS?
>>
>>61187250
https://coinmarketcap.com/
This has 800 cryptocurrencies on it. You can make your own, too, since the stuff is open source. They will find an alternative.
>>
>>61187084
Anyone, please?
>>
>>61184983
>poor
>good GPU cards won't run on a librebootable system
>>
Why would I be mining?
>You can make money from it
Hardly enough to bother me.
>>
>>61187363
>hating on free money
And here I thought this board was infested with jews.
>>
>>61187485
>I can get graphics cards for free
>>
>>61187485
>Hating
No, not hating. I just can't be fucked with the hassle.
Besides that, I live alone and thus pay my own electric. I dislike the idea of spending electric on something I can't be guaranteed won't give me a return.
Doing my washing, keeping my food cold, heating up my food or kettle and playing games are all things I'd consider giving me a return, before you ask, because they provide me a service. Mining for internet money which the value of can change drastically at any moment?
Not too interested, thanks.
>>
>>61187524
Thing is, I actually have a Fury X in my current system and a HD7950 in storage, so even if I only used the Fury X, I could mine, but I can't be bothered with learning how and dealing with the ins and outs of it all.
>>
>>61185200
Really???? I have like 1000 of them
>>
>>61185038
It's non-existent unless you own a fab making asics and your power is essentially free (local hydro or geo).
>>
>>61186209
No.
>>
>>61187553

It's like 15 minutes of work and could be making you 200+ a month for free.
>>
>>61187647
>for free.

That's wrong though
>>
>>61187647
~$100 a month.
>>
>>61187692

Both cards together get closer to 200.
>>
>>61185904
so double your money for free in a year.

thats pretty good honestly.
>>
I mined 25k doge coins a few years ago, traded them for 17 litecoins I think, no idea where my wallet is now
>>
>>61187084
Guys? Anyone? It is ungoogleable!
>>
>>61185904
My 570 lasted until last year from 2010, doing intense work between 4-16 hours a day. Where'd you pull 4-5 years at 6 hours from?
>>
>>61184983
Because I don't want to destroy the market and dry up everything.
>>
I have around 1.5 GH/s on Ethereum now, been mining for 14 months. Slowly accumulated the equipment overtime.

That being said, I made more money (cash dollars) trading Ethereum in April and May then I ever did mining the past 14 months.

I don't invest anymore in equipment, I keep what I have maintained and that's about it. Should of just bought the coins. Just about any person that's been mining for more then 6 months learns this the hard way.
>>
>>61188264
Which coin would you say is the best to trade? I suppose its best to look for volatile ones?
>>
STOP BUYING UP GRAPHICS CARDS YOU MOTHERFUCKER
>>
>>61184983

All of that electricity being used around the globe and Ethereum can only do 30 transactions per second.

Visa and Mastercard processes 10's of thousands of transactions per second around the globe with conventional servers and don't even use 1/10th the power all these Ethereum miners around the globe are using.

Oh, but what about smart contracts? Congrats you can now invest in some crappy ICO or buy snacks from an over-engineered vending machine.

Sounds like a waste.
>>
when it gets too expensive and non-profitable to mine, transactions are gonna get pricey
that'll make the value of the currency fall
and it'll be even less profitable

there will be an ultimate crash.
all of the bitcoin bubbles are going to pale in comparison to the end-life crash.
>>
>>61185975
Look up opportunity cost.
>>
>>61184983
for what no one is buying that shit unless is with more cryptocurrency and people are selling the machines for real money if people buy them so is a fucking waste of time unless you need that to buy skeptic stuff which is rare unless you want someone waiting at your door
