would other distributors or whatever complain about the HD6XX and does Sennheiser have to give a shit about them (I guess if they're selling the HD600/650s)? Is it really that underpriced?

I have 2 HD6XXs coming, one for myself and another as a gift but I am still incredibly skeptical on its quality given the price. Can I still expect "$500" build quality?
>>
>>61163023
Sennheiser build quality is the industry standard, the HD600, HD650 and HD6XX are all completely modular and every single part of them is available for replacement from Sennheiser. Don't fall for the anti-Sennheiser autist's shitposting.

Heck, if it really is that amazing of a deal, do I even bother buying other headphones right now? It's not that terribly amazing of a deal. HD600 are better. HD650/HD6XX are dark sounding. It'd be an amazing deal if it was HD600 for the same price.

I think the HD650 sounds better. The treble is just smoother; you're not missing out on any detail. The HD6XX is a great deal if you don't mind the wait. Some people in certain countries are saving a lot more than ~$100 compared to buying an HD650 retail.

If you're used to something with rolled off treble like the HD 600/650 the DT 880 will sound quite lively and bright in the highs.

I listen to a lot of classical so I find the treble of the DT 880 reveals a lot of detail.

Because since it's the region that ear is most sensitive to it's the most fatiguing? Aeon actually follows harman curve quite well. I like upper midrange of HD600, it gives amazing clarity and forwardness to vocals. But it can be also very harsh/fatiguing on some songs and I never heard any speaker with such a prominent upper midrange/treble.

You've been hearing too much veilheisers
>>
>>61163445
You say so because I can assume that you are mostly using headphones, and those usually have no sub bass with boosted higher frequencies compared to speakers because of room interactions, boundary gain, and just the fact that highs lose energy faster than lows. I myself as well use mostly headphones and most speakers sound too warm for me, lacking in female voice forwardness. Bad thing about that is that such level of highs damages our ears faster than most speakers, I have a small dip at 3-4k in my left ear for example. Besides music is mixed for speakers.

>>61163513
>but that can always be fixed with EQ, even the shitty 5 band one android comes with.

Which are headphones after all. Harman curve is based off speaker in a 'good' room, speakers in a room are bound to sound warmer due to boundary gain and will lose some energy in high frequencies. You may not like it, as well as any curve because they are all objective and don't take into the account our ears that can chance FR by few db, but that is not a niggerbass when speakers are mastering standard, altho pair of monitors on stand will sound less warm, niggua.
>>
>>61163649
>Harman curve is based off speaker in a 'good' room
Not quite. The bass boost was entirely based on subjective listener preferences. The dotted green line here was their measurement of accurate speakers in a good room.
>>

You should. Instead of buying something like a 400i in the meantime, I'd put the money towards a better audio source. I highly recommend the NFB-11: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFN1128/NFB1128EN.htm

It's better than a Schiit Modi 2 Uber/Magni 2 Uber stack, but also costs a bit more. It's also nice to have both the amp and DAC inside a single unit. Your K702 will benefit from it, and it's perfect for the HD6XX you'll be receiving eventually. It's good enough for basically any headphone on the market, including stuff like the HD800, so you wouldn't have to worry about upgrading pretty much ever.

Zero Audio Carbo Tenores. Really liked the sound signature of them, but I honestly wouldn't mind a little less bass, gets kind of overpowering in general and especially on songs with strong bass already.

as much as I get why buying off China would be amazing bang for buck (I bought a violin off Yitamusic once), this just seems so risky if something does go wrong. At least yitamusic is through ebay.

I was under the impression that the schiit stack would be good enough for everything already. I'll read more into it if that's not the case. I would have thought an amp / DAC choice would be less subjective than headphones
>>
>>61164939
The NFB-11 comes with a 10 year warranty for free repairs, and yes, it is an amazing bang for your buck. They're a reputable company, and you pay through PayPal, so there's really nothing to worry about.

Schiit stack is good, but the amp and dac in this thing are both better.

To be fair, that's the old model, released before the HD598 was, which makes it two generations old considering HD599/579.
That model had no detachable cable, so it's not too surprising that'd be what would break. I've never had a cable pull myself, but as I understand it, it's a quite frequent accident among headphone users.

I found a method that has kept me happy for the last 4-ish years.

I bought the Bose soundsport earbuds at best buy for just around 100$, and BOUGHT THE 2 YEAR WARRANTY for an extra 20 bucks. Usually warranties aren't worth it, but in this case it is VERY worth it. For that 20 bucks, I can exchange them for new ones as many times as I need for the 2 years if they become unbalanced, or break. You don't need to pay to reactivate the warranty if you exchange them. at the end of the 2 years, you will need to pay the 20 bucks to keep it going, but realistically, 20 bucks every 2 years for UNLIMITED earbuds of good quality is VERY VERY WORTH IT. I've kept this up for the last 4 years and I cant help wondering how it's not a loophole....
>>
>>61172167
The bose buds are comfy, have good bass and great sound quality. They're pretty tough too for earbuds, and if anything does happen, you can just turn them in and grab a new pair for no cost as long as you got the warranty.

No. The HD579 are a more V-shaped, less accurate variant of the HD558/598.

>>

It is not.
>>

But it is. Both HD599 and HD579 are closer to HD600 than HD598, if you overlap the FRs.

800's are over a grand . 600's are actually somewhat affordable and beat pretty much everything. It's not hard really is it.

Are there any better headphones than pic related for my needs? I need a pair that is wireless and can play music via an aux cable even after the battery dies. It doesn't really matter if it is over ear or on ear (pic related is on ear) but it costs just about ~$37. I hope that you can prove me wrong autists.
>>
>>61173231
HD600 and HD598/558 have very similar, small midbass humps. HD579 and HD599 have much larger midbass humps. HD579 and HD599's boosted treble is not similar to either HD600 or HD558. You are wrong. HD558, 598 and HD600 have balanced sound signatures. HD579 and HD599 have V-shaped sound signatures. You are wrong.
>>
>>61173738
Pic + timestamp or you're trolling.

>>
>>61173869

>>61173800
Tbh from a glance, looking at the bass and treble levels, 599 seems more v-shaped than 579, which is why I favor recommending 579, particularly as it is that much cheaper.
Do you happen to know where to get raw data as in a table, csv, json array or the like, rather than a damn image?
It sucks there's no way to compare FR properly, other than the graphs.headphone.com thing, which lacks most newish models.

If you want to be ultra cheap, K240 Velours. Otherwise, HM5 Hybrid/Velour or Brainwavs round velour. I'm using SR950 pads on mine.

Looking to step up my audio set up somewhat, and am in the market for speakers + a headphone amp. Which of the following options do you reckon I should go with?:

Option A: http://a.co/3Bkvvjr (Yamaha receiver w/ headphone out) + http://a.co/62BqnW6 (Micca MB42x)

Total = ~$230

OR

Option B: http://a.co/eK4BWYU (Cheap lepy speaker amp) + http://a.co/62BqnW6 (Micca MB42x) +Schiit Magni

Total = ~$210

Thoughts?

Hello, I have a question. I'm reading a review for the Philips SHP9500 and it says that the sound leak is bad. How bad exactly? If I am listening to something at a normal, not particularly loud volume will people around me be able to hear it?
>>
>>61174302
Also, a follow up question, if these do in fact leak to the surroundings at a normal volume, what are alternative headphones with a similar design in the price range of 70-100 dollars that do not?
>>
>>61174325
Take your current headphones off. Hold it at an arms length. That's approximately the volume it'll leak at.

says they leak particularly badly, so I am a little concerned.
>>
No /PMP/ so I'll ask here.

I've been given an ipod classic 120 GB. Currently using a Sansa clip+ with Rockbox, it is worth the hassle of changing?
>>
So why do I need an Uber over a regular Magni?
>>
>>61174509
There's no schilling going on here.
>>
>>61174592
Preamp outs, a little more power, prettier metal (matches modi2uber's), satisfaction from being above the non-uber riffraff.
>>
>>61174590
>it is worth the hassle of changing
Only if you have super low impedance, super high sensitivity IEMs which are hissy in the Clip+. Clip+ has been measured and is demonstrably transparent with anything but low impedance, high sensitivity IEMs, which it can be hissy with. MicroSD expansion makes its capacity a moot point.
I'd keep the iPod as a backup for when the Clip+ battery dies since Clip+ is discontinued.
>>
>>61174541
Get an HD558 or an SHP9500 instead. They're much better open back options in the under $100 category.
>>

SHP9500S

Which one's closer to the hd600, the hd558 or the hd579
>>
Where do I get started with tube amps?
>>
>>61174669
I'm using VE Monks as I can't use IEMs so I will not notice any gain.

Plus I'd have to convert or download again flac to Apple lossless
>>
Is the 598 line officially discontinued? First time in forever I haven't seen them in stock on amazon.
>>
>>61174566
Look at a photo of them. There's nothing more than a metal grate between the driver and the outside of the headphones.
>>
>>61172611
They are okay for the money.
