Not really, there's several other chinkphones available with similar specs. Also, the display is only 720p.

Looking for opinions on what new high end phone to grab
Upgrading from an s5.
Would love a removable battery but I'm under the impression there are no good phones with those anymore. So I'm leaning towards a pixel or a Huawei mate 9
>>
>>61152755
It's good, I hear the stock ROM is shit but there's official LineageOS available

If you want something else with the no bezels meme then check out Maze Alpha.

LG G5 and V20 have removable batteries
>>
>>61152799
But are they good?
I'm not exactly a fan of LG and the G5 looks like ass.
Haven't seen a G20 in person yet
>>
>>61152844
LG G5 is ok, wasn't as good as the other 2016 flagships (S7 and HTC 10) but for the $250 it's selling now it's a great deal.

V20 is a good phone with plenty of nice features like the secondary display, dual cameras, quad DAC, removable battery, IR blaster... Battery life isn't the best but having a removable battery means you can use extended size batteries, there's 6400mah and even a 10,000mah battery available.

I have an iPhone 4s still. Was very good until I updated. Now I have cpu errors a lot while browsing or playing mild games. Lots of lag even when I have only 1 program or app open.

Looking for a good phone that is rugged or can have a rugged case. I work in the oilfield so it's going to be exposed to the elements a lot.

I only shit post, take pics for work, and play games on it.
>>
So, I have a Droid Turbo that I'd like to upgrade from. What's a good unlocked phone that works with Verizon?
>>
what should i get to upgrade from my lg g4?
u11? g6? op5? xz premium? battery life is the most important factor follow by smaller size and then performance....

Get the G6.
I have one. The large 18:9 display isn't chunky, and I can use it easily with one hand. I upgraded from a 4.5 display and I honestly can't look back now. The G6 is a solid phone, it's essentially like the S8, a near bezel fee display, but without the curved bezels that the Galaxy S8 has. Battery life on the G6 is decent, gets me through the day. It uses USB-C to charge so it only takes about an hour to fully charge.
>>
I have a flexible budget of 250€
What's the best smartphone in this price range? I don't have to do anything demanding with it, but I'd still like it to be fluid. Also, the sturdier and more durable, the better.

Do you not see the camera in the little screen cutout at the top?
I've seen a lot of people bitching about the iPhone 8s design and I really can't understand why, especially if it's true that the fingerprint reader will be integrated into he screen itself.

>>
>>61154392
What about the cutout is ugly? It looks great.
Or are you the kind of autist that gets triggered by a screen that isn't perfectly rectangular?
>>
>>61154487
The bits on the sides don't even give you more usable space. It's a shitty gimmick that looks bad (just like the glass backs).
>>
>>61154300
>>61154392
I don't think it's that big of the deal, the cutout is in the space that would have been taken by the status bar (which is mostly empty space). It doesn't matter for full screen video because it'll be letterboxed anyway (16:9 content on 18:9 display)
>>
>>61154505
Have fun not seeing half of your icons if you turn more features on / get more notifications.
Just go with normal 16:9 and make the phone even shorter and more pocketable for same functionality..

how is it strange? oneplus lying to it's customers as usual.
people have noted that jelly scrolling is due to it's display being mounted upside down which fucks up the way pixels refresh.
If you turn OP3t upside down and try scrolling, you'll get the same jelly effect, and if you turn your OP5 upside down the jelly effect will disappear.
since it's a hardware issue it's unlikely that oneplus will try to fix that.

Well, all guides tell me to completely drain my phone. But how do I do that?
It's currently not responding at all. Won't turn on. How can I make sure it's draining battery? Some guides say to leave it connected to the charger for a few days. Will that really help?
I can't remove the battery.

Alright so Im looking at phones in a similar monthy price range £12 - £16 (U.K) and found the SG A3 and Iphone 5s to be in this range with the 'ID' service provider.

What do you guys think about the provider + android vs apple?
I feel like I'm the type of person who would be irritated by the limitations of iOS but I won't know until its too late really so I hope you guys have some insight into this.

Keep in mind
>Ive never had a real proper smartphone before
>nor a monthy contract

thanks in advance lads
>>

Easily my favorite feature of the OP5, not sure why nobody ever mentions it
>>
>>61153007
Why shouldn't it be? With Samshit you can change the resolution from the settings
>>
>>61159917
Don't buy a monthly contract phone, and definitely don't buy a phone locked to a network like ID.

Buy a factory unlocked phone outright and get a sim only plan. You will save literally hundreds of pounds by doing this, and you'll be getting more for less in terms of monthly cost and the data/calls/texts you'll be getting.

I see, I didn't want to get goy'ed so thanks. I found the samsung phone unlocked on ebay for ~£125 and a couple sim-only plans for 12 months. Comparing the total prices from before I see what you mean about the money saved now.

Now I am just choosing between the contracts. 'Three' for £9/mo or 'The Peoples Operator' for £7.50/mo?

I don't really care about the amount of texts or minutes I doubt I'll ever surpass them anyway. Just want to know which service will scam me the least, since all these online reviews seem very biased and written by 10 year olds and don't always feel trustworthy.

I recently ordered a StraightTalk iPhone 5s referbished from $50 from Walmart to use as a back up phone since I'm selling my OnePlus 3. Is their any methods to unlock them, without paying a crazy $80 fee. Trying to use it on AT&T. If not, then it'll just return it.

I'm looking into upgrading from my S2 as the battery life and performance is beyond usable now. I've grabbed the best prices for some older and new models I'm looking at. 3T isn't included as there's no stock. I'll mainly use it for watching videos, phoneposting and music. What would you get at these prices? Any other recommendations? €550 euroshekels max on the budget.

Because the Nexus 4/5 were really popular with developers so there's stuff like Sailfish OS and Ubuntu touch available. For your third world phone you will have to do everything from scratch. An android custom ROM might be possible to make for an beginner (by porting it from from another phone with similar specs) but a completely another OS? Way way more complicated.

well, it was more convenient for them to connect it to the motherboard that way. but yeah it's stupid and oneplus could have just used a longer ribbon cable and avoid this issue.

I was thinking, re >>61169247

Is there a separate contact app for android where I can have my work contacts, and delete them from my normal stock contact app and my whatsapp contacts, then in privacy settings set display pic to friends only?

My first and only smartphone is a Galaxy S4 that I bought when it came out. I must admit I haven't treated it with silk gloves, on the contrary I've never used a cover and I dropped it more than a few times; regardless it's still working, and I must give it credit for it, however
>it's always been full of bloatware crap I could never get rid of
>it's been years since it started giving me the erratic "SIM not found, reboot" error, a problem that I've found out being quite common, although never addressed by Samsung
>battery management is questionable, and many times the way it discharges is strange
>it heats up to housefire levels
>back camera's external lens fell off on its own and the overall picture quality degraded over time in a ridiculous way
>I made the mistake to upgrade android and the phone has been working like shit since then (I never rolled back for fear of bricking my only phone)
>it's slow as fuck, and loading times especially in the gallery can be measured in geological ages

Also, seeing the development of Samsung products, I saw they never changed their philosophy, so they always packed their phones full of shit, and designed them around ridiculous gimmicks. S8 is a prime example of this: they tried to innovate so much they shot themselves in the foot. I would have given my ass to Samsung for that incredible all-screen design, but the all-glass/zero-survivability body, the bixby button, the curved edges, the bad ergonomics of the fingerprints sensor, the attempt to outjew Google with their own bloatware, made me refrain from buying another of their products.

After realizing this, I've also thought that for such an average use, there's no point in spending stupid amounts of money on a smartphone, so whoever can give me actually functional features in a sturdy design wins my money. Apparently Nokia did with the Nokia 6; too bad it's still TBA on the european market.
>>
So, I'm still using a Droid Turbo 1. Should I consider upgrading?

If it still works fine, no.

I'm considering buying the oneplus 5 (the hate seems exaggerated), but I am in Norway and oneplus are not officially shipping there, does anyone have any experience how to solve this? There are also some Chinese sellers offering it on ebay, but they apparently flash a new "global" rom, would it be a bad idea to get one of those?

>bloatwarefull

Yes thats quite common nowdays, but the thing that pissess me off more is the samsung apps like samsung internet, galaxy apps, and other shit trying to compete with the free apps on the playstore, and cant even be deactivated so they keep sucking rams for gods know what purpose, but all these things can be avoided with rooting right?

>it's been years since it started giving me the erratic "SIM not found, reboot" error, a problem that I've found out being quite common, although never addressed by Samsung

didnt know about this one but i guess it has to do with the droppings (since its the galaxy s4 i believe it to be pretty old so the more time he lived the more chance of being dropped it gets)

>battery management is questionable, and many times the way it discharges is strange
>it heats up to housefire levels

this two might be related

>back camera's external lens fell off on its own and the overall picture quality degraded over time in a ridiculous way

lel

>I made the mistake to upgrade android and the phone has been working like shit since then (I never rolled back for fear of bricking my only phone)

Yes this is a problem since they even made the update automathic even if you refuse them everytime you see the notification IT WILL UPDATE the software in tricky ways, i think it can only be avoided with rooting

For sure for average use you dont necesseraly need a flagship, you can find some midranger who can be more cost-efficent, we will need to see how this nokia phones goes on the long run but for sure the midranger phones are getting better and better everyday.

Cant honestly wait for bezelless to become the standard

Plain LineageOS or ResurrectionRemix? Using a Redmi Note 3 Pro
>>
8gb on my phone is not enough anymore, even though I have a 32gb sd card. Heres to hoping that the nokia 7 will be a decent 5 inch midranger.

At what price (in US$) would a G4/G4+ or G5/G5+ be considered a steal or a good deal?
>>

>mediakek

>>61171105
which would also be the best out of the choices for the price possible?

The S8+ is fucking garbage holy shit. Why the fuck didn't SAMSUNG grow a brain and design a own tempered glass screen protector for the S8 lineup that actually works?

I fucking hate how there is not a single good screen protector for this piece of shit. Thankfully I'm still within the 30 day return period and can buy an iPhone 6S instead. Absolutely disgusting. SAMSUNG seriously shat the bed with this one.

It's looking more and more like the Note 4 was SAMSUNG's last good phone.

Just read that Sharp is also coming out with an AndroidOne phone X1.

Does anyone know if Yahoo mobile preload their phones with carrier bloatware? I'm hoping the Japs are autistic enough not to do this, but they have shit taste and pay to get their teeth crooked.

Stop dropping your phone.

I've had a screen protector and a case on it since five minutes after I got the phone. Fuck off.

I could get a 4g/32gb new for $229 at Best Buy or open box for $201.99. How does price matching work?

Any good good cheap cases for the oneplus 5 that isn't made by oneplus? -- they're too much money plus the shipping cost.

>he says after screeching at people for telling him to be less clumsy
lmao

>>61171717
Homemade case:
1. Put your OnePlus 5 over a hot stove
2. Let it sit for 30 minutes
3. The back will harden and form a sturdy casing. Enjoy!

Be careful tho, this isn't protected by a warranty iirc

I'm going to get a new phone after my Xperia Z constantly out, what phone should I get, only thing i really want is a fingerprint sensor, moderately big screen and decent specs so I could use my phone for at least 3 years or so. What phone should I get, my budegt is about 500 EUR
