Trying to get Pokémon GO on my Samsung Galaxy S3, running Android 4.4.2.
It crashes on the Niantic logo screen.
Older versions get a bit further, to the log in, but won't authenticate.

Is my only option root and install a more recent OS?
>>
>>61152124
Problem is Pokemon go wont run at all on custom OS's, unless they've found some sort of work around. So if you can't do it on stock, you can't do it at all.

Because unix inspired operating systems were largely developed for developers. There was a commercial element in regards to servers but windows was fully consumer or bust, for a while. Linux and BSD apis are largely influenced by the original unix wake of development in and around the 80s in which is was a bunch of neckbeards developing for each other. They put a lot of care in their development while thinking about people from other companies who would be making changes based on their stuff. These days most commercial development doesn't treat future developers as a relevant stackeholder. Though there were certainly some companies ran like that back then. So really it is an accident of history and where the more community minded developers ended up congregating.

I have some really stupid questions but I really want to understand the fundamentals before going too far:
When I install programming languages like Rust and Python on my PC, what exactly am I installing?
How come I can run an .exe file created by Rust on a computer that does not have Rust installed but cannot run Python scripts on a computer that doesn't have Python installed?...
>>
>>61152778
Rust is a compiled language, your code gets translated to machine code that can be run on all machines that support the architecture you compiled for, python is interpreted language, needs python interpreter aka the install for running

When you run a script for a sandwich- language like python, the interperater translates the programing language into machine code. When rust makes an exe it turns the programing language into an exe and saves it so you can run it later.

A hash takes a bigass file and reduces it to a like a 20 digit number, that you can use to verify the original file. You're not encrypting anything. You lose the original information.

Can anybody tell me how the fuck this is possible?
Both FreeBSD and Windows are on separate disks, but I had to set FreeBSD to the same disk as Windows in order to boot. Everything works, weirdly enough. Grub gives an "Invalid Signature" error when trying to boot FreeBSD, but it still boots fine.

But the entire point is that I want to compare upscaling methods when I set my desktop resolution to a game's native res (and let my GPU handle the scaling) or when I leave it as is and let the game's software methods upscale it. Hard to do so when I can't take an accurate screenshot of one of these cases.

>>
>>61153439
Whatever your GPU outputs (i.e. your current resolution) will be the what shows up in the printscreen. Unless your monitor itself is doing the upconverting (highly unlikely, unless it's some bullshit feature trying to make 1080p video look like 4k), then you're inventing a problem that doesn't exist.

I have a weird ass setup. I'm dual booting Windows and Hackintosh, and my intention is to use Parallels with that installation of Windows.

A while ago I managed this without trouble. I could add my secondary hard drive and do whatever the fuck I pleased.

Now however, the secondary hard drive only works on the virtual machine and when I restart it seems there's a conflict between the real hardware drivers and parallels'. My secondary hard drive ain't being detected for shit and it's throwing out an error 31 on the device manager. Only way that I could fix it was by uninstalling Parallels tools.

The only version of Windows in which I managed not to have this issue (I tried 7, 8.1 and 10) is Windows 7 so far, but I get really crappy performance for some reason and everytime I open the damn virtual machine it detects the drive as new and prompts for a restart, which is an annoyance, not gonna lie.

Any clues?

Been searching online and found that if they are not configured fully they will blast a notification to devices in the network to warn you of this. What's the fastest way to wipe an SSD? It doesn't have to be secure or anything. My issue is there's a dead Windows boot manager partition on there, and GRUB and the BIOS keep picking it up despite me trying to write over it. I'd just like for it to stop recognizing as a Windows partition when there's nothing there, even when I delete everything from a Windows installer it still picks it up.

Assuming i did a straightforward and successful win7 sysprep transfer of my current HDD into an otherwise completely new build, would i then be able (after re-activating the OS license, installing new hardware drivers and everything) to afterwards clone that freshly migrated HDD aka the OS on it to another (preferably larger) new HDD in that same exact build?

>/watch?v=qYK-C4rIxrI

^ Basically what this guy does with Paragon Hard Disk Manager but literally the only difference in my case here would be that the OS was already sysprepped once and just migrated whereas his one presumably never was - But that fact shouldn't impair the cloning process at all, right?

The reason i'm asking is because none of these other imaging applications (macrium, acronis et al) seem to have free functionality included to restore an already sysprepped image to a completely new HDD on a new machine, they all want you to pay up for pro licenses and shit.

So yeah in a nutshell rather than opting for that whole imaging route i'm instead planning to migrate the old HDD with the OS on it to the new build via sysprep first (so that i don't have to use any imaging/restoration software at all/only have to use sysprep once for the initial transfer into the new build) and then clone the successfully migrated old HDD/OS to the new HDD in the new build so that i can keep using the cloned OS on the newer and larger HDD from then on instead.

Is there any reason this possibly wouldn't work out? Pic related

Intel works great, basically native performance. Ryzen is kind of messy right now, you can either have great Windows performance and shit GPU performance or shit Windows performance and great GPU performance. If your work isn't GPU-accelerated it's fine though. Be aware passing through audio is kind of a hassle if you're using anything besides HDMI or DisplayPort audio. And I'm assuming if you're doing music you have some kind of DAC so you might have luck passing through the whole device.

By passing audio I mean passing through any sound generated by software in Windows to hardware controlled by Linux. If Linux is controlling your sound equipment, transferring sound from Linux to Windows and vice-versa has issues sometimes, it will sound crackly and poor quality. The best way to solve this is to pass your individual sound equipment to Windows itself. This is difficult with onboard sound, but external equipment should be easy.

Anything that connects to the headphone jack or the line out ports in the back of the motherboard. Forgot pic. Again, its literally just Win8.1 being a bitch with the wifi.

Even fucking Window 10, the OS that was on this laptop first, connected just fine.

right click on the devices with the yellow warning sign and search for drivers. you need an internet connection or a driver cd.

the drivers for your wifi card are not installed, but the hardware is still being detected.
it's probably the 'unknown device' or 'network controller' that needs drivers

download everything for windows 8.1
install everything

your wifi card is made by realtek, if all fails go to their website and download the driver from there

Ooookay. Well if your phone manufacturer didn't release an official upgrade for your phone, there's no way to update your OS without permanently disabling Pokemon Go.

I have a router on a 1st floor but live on the 3rd floor of the apartment. Because of how far the router is, I use an AC 3000 router/adapter to better reach it. I also got an extender to try and reach the 3rd floor.

Internet works perfectly fine however, I disconnect almost every 15-20 minutes without fail which can be rather annoying when playing online.

Where should my investigation start in order to fix the mass disconnects? Is there any other device I should consider investing in?

A second router? You can bridge the two? Sorry if that sounds a bit silly/retarded.

They don't want to help anyone unless you can find a way to make your problem interesting to them somehow. But the internal rules of trackers falls squarely within their jurisdiction, so if you can't figure it out there, you're SOL. Try actually posting in the forums if the searches elude you.

I am looking to buy a Ryzen system with an r7 1700 on an asrock x370 board and I am unsure as to what RAM to buy.
Ideally I would like to go for 32 GB RAM @3200Mhz as I read that this is Ryzens sweet spot. Now price wise I could either go for 2x16gb or 4x8gb of RAM. Would there be any downside to either option, performance wise? With 2x16, I would have the option of going up to 64gb in the future (thinking of building this system for use in the next five years).

Second question: what are the officially supported RAM sticks for Ryzen? The link on the amd website is dead. Are G.Skill Ripjaws decent (despite the meme gamer aesthetic)? What would be the downsides of using unsupported RAM? Would it not work at all or just worse?
