I'm begging for your help. Today is cyber monday and I want to build a nice PC today but I don't know what to look for.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Y28DYJ

This is what I have to work with so far, and I just want a computer that can run games like fallout/h1z1 in 1080p with 60 fps. Any suggestions on better parts? Any help is appreciated.

>>51607781
>i5-6400
Bump the 6400 up to 6500, 2.7 GHz just isn't good enough honestly.

>Z170 Motherboard
Either get a 6600k or dump the Z170 for something cheaper.

>16 GB RAM
8 is enough, trust me.

>R9 380 2 GB
>2 GB
Big No No. Get a 4 GB 380 or bust.

Everything else seems fine, but paying for Windows 10? Really?
>>
I wouldn't pay for Windows 10.
>>
>>51607898
In all honesty the guy I asked is just a real life friend who I'm not sure knows what he's doing too well himself anyways.

Would you be willing to fix the pc part picker with parts you would recommend with ~1200 budget? I would be willing to send you money via paypal if you were to help me.
>>
>>51607781
>6400
Dump the skylake in general. Shit's pricy if you're looking for performance-per-dollar. Get a Haswell, something like a 4690 and a cheap Asus B85M board.

>16gb ram
No. 8GB.

With some of this shit cut down, you should be able to get a 4GB card. 2GB just isn't enough, especially not for something like Fallout. NVidia recently dropped their prices, and the 960 4GB has some pretty killer deals. That, or a 380/380X 4GB.

Might wanna change the case, too. Built a few customer builds in the 100R and 200Rs, and they're a fucking nightmare to build in compared to something like a Graphite 230T.
>>
I'd get some cheaper RAM. You can get 8GB for $26.

HIJACKING THIS BREAD WITH MY OWN CYBER MONDAY BUILD BECAUSE I DON'T PAY FOR WINDOWS

can I cut costs on non essentials anywhere else /g/, or would I get better performance by switching things in the same price range?

>I'm aware my HDD is small and that monitor is awful, that will change soon

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FcwpCJ
>>
>>51607898
I agree with this guy. The 6500 is only $3 more.

Opinions are free. Don't pay anyone.
>>
Save some money and get Windows 10 on USB, then buy a key online.
>>
>>51608000
I'd pay a little more and get the 250GB SSD.

Is the stock AMD fan loud or something? Why do you want a after market fan? If you're unsure, you should wait and see if the stock fan is too loud or too hot before you buy a after market fan.
>>
>>51608095
>Is the stock AMD fan loud or something?
You have no fucking idea.
>>
>>51608000
you're going to end up sorry for wasting 200 dollars on the AMD meme

Points taken, I think you're right about the SSD. Any other suggestions?
>>
>>51607922
Here you are pal.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/846L3C

You can upgrade the RAM and Throw another 390 into Crossfire later if you like, the PSU can handle it as long as you don't overclock with both.

Any particular reason why you chose that monitor? You can get a similar Dell monitor for $30 less. It doesn't come with a DVI cable though.

Those SSDs seem to have a high failure rate. I was thinking about buying them too since they're so cheap, but I read the reviews on newegg and it's pretty disparaging.

Trust me, the 390x guy, because this sapphire cooler kicks some serious ass.

Yes the card makes a LOT of heat. But the cooler dissipates it rapidly and my core temps stay low. If you don't have an airtight case the 390 will be fine, especially with a custom fan curve.

DON'T GET THAT PSU

DO NOT GET THAT PSU

Get the GS or G2 version instead, not the G1. G1 is cheaper because it is bad and also very loud.

Hope I'm not too late...

Also would highly recommend getting an SSD.

It's not 1993 anymore, gramps. I haven't been inside a store in... almost two years now. And when I say store, I mean stores of any kind, clothing, grocery, tech, etc. Stores are 150% obsolete to everyone under the age of 43

What's a good 100$ish Intel mobo? I am so conflicted, every mobos has some really damning reviews and I just don't know what to get...
>>
>>51609676
Get the Cryorig H5 or H7 CPU cooler instead.

Get the EVGA 650W 80+ Gold GS/G2 PSU instead.

Would recommend getting a 250GB SSD too.

Also go for 2x4GB RAM because dual-channel and the motherboard has 4 slots, so you can still upgrade later.
>>
>>51609676
Your ram is really overpriced and the mobo is a little overkill. Kek at that stupid psu. Otherwise decent.
>>
>>51609740
It's cutting it close, mostly b/c it is bronze. Did you take the highest card and the lowest psu in the bracket?
>>
>>51609682
My state doesn't have a microcenter or a Fry's actually. It almost drove me to try and go around jewing a price match before I found one second hand.

>>
>>51609775
yes

well actually the r9 390 isn't in the bracket but it "has no compatibility issues"

>>51609757
the price on the ram is incorrect; it is $45 CAD on newegg
>>
>>51609839
Hey, you need to stop using that logicalincrements website. It isn't accurate and pairs good parts with total shit parts.

>>
What are good PSUs? I'm probably going to end up getting a 280x and I don't want to fuck anything up power-wise.
>>
For SSDs, what brands are fine and what brands should I avoid?

I'm looking for a 200GB-500GB SSDs.
>>
Not op but I just built a pc a few weeks ago but still need a monitor for it. (tested it on friends)

Looking to spend 150 bucks or less and I usually play games on my computers. Occasionally shooting games when I have a computer that can run them like I do now.

A friend told me I should only buy monitors with 144htz and 1ms is this accurate?

Doesnt seem any of those are in my price range.
>>
Is this good enough for a first time builder with £600 maximum budget?

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/qd337P
>>
>>51613806

Looks good for a budget build, I don't think you should cheap out on the power supply since that could last you a long while and getting a SSD is a really good idea for your main OS.
>>
>>51612097
Seasonic
>>
>>51614007

Oh but your build looks fine. You can always switch out the power supply in the future and get a SSD later.

Is this actually true? I'm wondering because I picked that case up this Black Friday cause I got it for like 40$ and I wasn't exactly looking to blow a lot of $ on a case. I'm doing a pretty easy build (mATX mobo, single GPU, no liquid cooling and probably only 2-3 hard drives) and I can't see how it could take more than an hour to get everything working.

Iam looking to build a new pc (probably in january or smth / depends on the prices and if they get cheaper till then)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NgvCHx

Had something like this in mind, listing parts I aim for here again.

GTX 980Ti (gigabyte) whatever card is the best
Intel I5 4690k 3,5 (Overclocking later / not instantly)
Mobo Gigabyte H97 / maybe Z97 depends on OCing and if s1 recommends smth cause Z97 is overkill.
250 GB SSD SanDisk Extreme for the OS
1 TB HDD for all the other things that make me happy.
Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB RAM
Sharkoon BD28 case
BeQuiet Dark Power 750 W PSU
BeQuiet Pure Rock (maybe a better one)
I dont think I need a drive (could get one later though)
Going for Windows 7 (Maybe 10 for performance / I aint got nothing to hide)

All in all, my budget is at most like 1500 € . Dont want to OC atm but maybe later.

Building my pc around that CPU, I mainly want to play at 1080p, maybe 1440p and 970 or 980ti is possible.

TL;DR
Gimme a decent pc up to a budget of 1500€ with gtx 970/980 ti and the i5 4690k, 8 gigs ram, ssd 250, hdd 1tb, some decent case, psu 750w , good ac, recommendations for windows os. good mobo ( no overkill) Thats just a guideline, gimme something good but nvidia and intel (gigabyte, bequiet)
