Anything that's cheaper than the Z97 is fine, even a compatible H81 is fine if it suits your needs as far as features go. Just make sure it supports Haswell Refresh if you do decide to get something like that.

A Z97 without an unlocked CPU is a waste of money.

For the R9 390 I've had a lot of trouble with game crashes and blue screens (might just be me though). The only drivers that seem to ever work are the beta drivers and the card itself could single handedly power all of the Aushwitz ovens because of how hot it runs.

I'd try finding an nvidia card.

But mine is still hot as fuck and it struggles in games at 1440x900 where my friend with almost the exact same set up except he bought a 970 plays at 1080p 60fps no problem

8gb is the bare minimum these days you can easily get another 8gb for 30 and have smoother browsing experience but otherwise it does not make a difference at all unless you do production stuff

Look like your gpu is overheat or driver issue.
Try ddu to remove driver and reinstall driver before Crimson because of fan bug.
Or just download afterburner and up fan to 100%. Test and monitor clock/temp using gpuz.
