Intel makes no good CPUs for gaming under the i3.

The Pentium is a meme, it chokes on anything that uses more then 1 core.

The x4 860k is quad core and o/c'able. To o/c the pentium you need a fairly expensive momboard.

That, and the fact that you bought a $400 CPU for a $130-ish GPU. Absolutely massive bottleneck, unless you actually do something CPU intensive other than gaming on that PC.

plus, your CPU choice made it last for true aeons, you can easily throw a new GPU in it in the 14nm era and enjoy extremely high graphics settings.

i'm going 390x/6600k because i want stuff now... but if i get the money for it later, i'll buy it later, it'll still be a 6600k (if it's not bottleneck), and a new generation gfx card. however, i am a strong supporter of the AMD team, and I'm not sure if they'll be able to compete with nvidia the next generation - as much as I hope they will, I'll only buy what is best...

Being newer is not a selling point. There is no Skylake equivalent of the 5820K; why go with something lower-end just for the sole reason of it being newer? Hell, the 2011-3 mobos even use DDR4.

Yes, something restricts you. The GPU. An i7 and a 950 is just as much of a bottleneck as a Pentium and a 980 Ti. You could have done this and said "the GPU is great, and the CPU does the best it can+OC" and been just as wrong.

Okay, that does justify it. That's what I'd do in your position too (even though I would have gotten a 5820K). Don't pretend that it's not a bottleneck for gaming, though.

the 5960X overclocks about 100 to 200mHz slower than the 5630K/5820K, even all three are on literally the same dye.
