I have an MP3 player I bought in 2007. Works fine, since I can put a AAA rechargeable in it. If it had a li-ion battery like everything does these days, it'd be long since clapped out, and that particular size of battery would be either unavailable or just as degraded due to age.

my "power bank" thingy takes AAs for exactly the same reason.
