What dining establishments do you like to plug in your laptop and sit all day?
>>
>>51586750
Taco Bell
>>
None because I'm not a hipster faggot. You fucking sit at your computer and waste your life at home, not at some dining establishment pretending to be the next trendy startup millionaire or distinguished writer and novelist.
>>
>>51586817
this may have been true in 2007 but it's not true now, laptops are everywhere and everybody uses them in coffee shops, on trains, on the bus etc

My home... I eat at my desk anyways.

Living alone hurts sometimes...

count your blessings you fool

I prefer boba shops. If the place is Asian run and serves savory treats, they're surprisingly good.
>>
Woah thats the free speech movement cafe.

I prefer sitting outside when its not terribly windy/ rainy in berkeley. The inside is dominated by korean fobs.
>>
>>51586750
Do people actually do this in the US?
Never seen it in Australia.
Don't you have internet at home?
>>
>>51586827
Bullshit. Only hipster faggots do this. Normal people do NOT act this way.
>>
You go to eat, not to sit around all day occupying a space someone else could use for eating. You guys who pull laptops out at places like that are selfish hipsters.
>>
>>51586827
I spend a lot of mornings in cafes and I've seen maybe 3 people in my life do this.
Murricans are strange.
>>
I go do my emails at a coffee shop 3 days out of the week. It's a nice break from the office and on days we don't have full team meetings I can work from wherever I want. For coding I prefer a the office, but for some reason, emails get on my nerves unless there's some busy noise around me and so a coffee shop is perfect.
>>51586817
>not at some dining establishment pretending to be the next trendy startup millionaire or distinguished writer and novelist.
The coffee shop I mentioned is mostly two types of people, and neither are the ones you mentioned. It's a mixture of med school students studying inside and actual hipsters smoking-and-hipster-ing outside. I generally sit with the med students, but on a nice day I'll join the hipsters on the patio.
>>
>>51587058
I only see it as selfish when there is a noticeable lack of seating. If there's 3 times as many chairs as there are people, well...
>>51587081
I am American. People taking computers to coffee shops is not uncommon and I don't really understand it either. Some people seem to like the change of atmosphere, some like having the coffee bar right there, some just like looking kewl and trendy.

Damn you can just feel the pain and despair in her eyes

>Normal people do NOT act this way.
Why would "normal" be a factor in making such a minor decision as using your laptop in a cafe that offers free WiFi? It's not like they offer WiFi and expect no one to use it. "Do what's normal" seems like the worst reason to do anything in particular.

You don't need to be an hyper-contrarian, anti-normal edgelord, but I also see no need to go out of your way to be middle-of-the-road "normal" either. Just do what works for you. Live and let live.
>>
why the fuck would you not just go home and surf the web? Its so much more convenient and comfortable.

I live in London and it's pretty common to see people using their laptop in coffee shops. People have job interviews in coffee shops, working lunches, etc. It's really not that uncommon/hipster these days, especially with people being required to answer emails/work on things outside of office hours.
>>
>>51587163
There is only one reason to do this and that's to be seen doing it. And if that's the reason, there is nothing positive to say about it.
>>
>>51587204
So you can be seen doing so in public. Aka because you're a fucking douchebag.
>>
>>51587204
Imagine:
>1:00pm - 2:00pm - have meeting at [Location A, far from home/office]
>4:00pm - 4:30pm - have other meeting at [Location B, near Location A, also far from home/office]
With work to do in the mean time, setting up in a nearby cafe saves on time (and gas if you're driving).
>>
>>51587224
I like how you say London as of its not a third world shithole at this point. Not a good example of humanity or decency.
>>
>>51587226
>There is only one reason to do this and that's to be seen doing it.
I don't understand. What does that even mean?
>>
>>51587224
don't bother with these people. it's a given that people work in coffee shops. if someone's such a fucking retard that they don't realize that, no amount of evidence will help them.
>>
>>51587278
i'm reluctant to give the impression that I care, but what place do you think represents an example of humanity and/or decency?
>>
I sit on the benches that overlook the beach. Sometimes go to Starbucks so I can people watch.

a lot of you guys sound really insecure desu.
>>
I don't get it, what's the point in being anti-social outside?
>>
>>51586839
You are not alone. You are here being a faggot with the rest of us. Distance is relative with internet.
>>
>>51587648
it's nicer than working inside all the time.
>>
There's a mexican joint by uni that is the only place I do this in.
The real reason isn't to get work done, but as an excuse to talk to the qt that works there during the day.
It's usually empty during the day, and if there aren't any other customers she will sit next to me and we'll chat.

I only bring the computer as an excuse. I can't even do work on my computer anyway. No phones seem to get wireless reception at the restaurant and I never remember to download assignment sheets.

Keep in mind that you're trying to explain this rationale to people that probably haven't left their house or had any decent human interaction in years.
>>
>>51586839
I'm a little concerned at how detailed that Mountain Dew label is...

Right?
I thought about killing my roommate today when he was hammering on shit just outside my room while I was trying to sleep. I yelled at him, so now he's avoiding me.
god, I miss having my own place, but it's too expensive here in Oregon...
