I know nothing about audio. Which headphones would be better for gaming?
Sennheiser 598s or Astro A50s
I know the A50s are 7.1, are the 598s? Does that even matter?

As I said..
>I know nothing about audio
How about being helpful, then maybe one day I can be a douchebag to someone looking for advice.

>How about being helpful
New to 4chan, huh? You would be better served to exercise your google fu.

Been here since 08. This isn't /b/

>virtual

You'll excuse me if I laugh at your obvious lies if you think other boards are "helpful" compared to /b/ _and_ you've been here since 2008.
>>51583602
The other boards are more helpful. Sure, there are still a lot of assholes, but more often than not you will eventually get an answer. I have received much help here when first getting in to PC building a few years back.

I don't know a ton about audio either, but I'm pretty sure you need an amp for those Sennheisers. Meaning just plugging them into your computer, phone etc. won't be able to power them to their full potential, you'd be better off getting a lower tier pair that doesn't require an amp.
>>51583655
598s have low enough impedence to work with most headphone jacks without needing an amp. They're designed to be more consumer friendly than Senn's more "audiophile" cans.

more doesn't mean fully, you dipshit
If /b/ is 0% helpful and /g/ is 5% helpful, how much more helpful is /g/?
Please have this assignment turned in by Monday.
>>51583442
598s will be better for basically everything
pair with some kind of mic (modmic, zalman zm-mic1, even a desk mic) and you'll have a way better audio setup than some kind of shitty headset.

>more doesn't mean fully, you dipshit
Thanks for the straw man argument.
>If /b/ is 0% helpful
Only because no one bothers to ask substantive questions on /b/. You have pretty much the same users one multiple boards.

Hands done
7.1 headphones mean, in the unlikely chance, there are individual speaks to simulate surround sound. Otherwise, it's just a software upmixing. Any sort of software upmixing is crap in regards to quality.

>in the unlikely chance, there are individual speaks to simulate surround sound.
And in that unlikely chance those individual speakers are tiny, underpowered, and way too close to the other tiny, underpowered speakers to not require software mixing.

so you came here because of chanology?
kill yourself
>>51583807
No, i came by very rarely even before that, but for some reason never really took part in conversations until 08. Not sure why, that's just when the site stuck.
>>51583642
Not him but /o/ and /n/ are pretty helpful.
>>51583442
>I know the A50s are 7.1, are the 598s?
It honestly doesn't matter because video games use virtual surround sound.
But as people said the 598s are miles ahead in terms of quality.
