Is this notebook good enough for design?
>>
>>51582283
No.
>>
>>51582283
Its good for anything except playing new AAA video games.

Strikes perfect balance between form and functionality. It's incredibly light, but at the same time sturdy, and comfortable to use. Trackpad is amazing and keyboard is great. Also the battery life is incredible.
>>
>>51582251
It's shit. I could buy a better laptop for half the price.

I need a notebook just for design next year around $1500. I already have a pc master race for gaming
>>
>>51582399
MBA if you value battery life and lightness more. Get a 13" retina macbook pro if you slightly value screen resolution more.
>>
I'm not gonna lie, the battery life on those things is pretty decent. I'd buy one and install Windows 7 on one if I had money to blow.

You could buy a gayming laptop for half the price.

I'm thinking about just getting the 2015 Macbook instead of a Dell M4500 or something similar. Don't see the point of the air at the moment to be honest when the regular Macbook they have seems to outbeat it.

Dunno, just want something that 'works', has a good display, somewhat small, and good battery life. Doesn't need to be powerful, just good enough to do some light work.
>>
Daily reminder that you can get a Dell XPS 13 for the price of macbook air and have better screen, touch support, WAY better processor with 3 times the clock speed and more ports.

No shit you fucking retard

I roll with 2 gig .PSD files on a 1.4ghz Mac Mini with 4 gigs of ram. I put a 128gb SSD in it and it never lags at all.

It depends on what kind of design work you're going to do. For general graphic design and illustration, you're in the good. For more complex 3d files and bigger projects, you might want to get a more powerful Mac.
>>
I find the 13 inch MacBook pro is now thin enough to be used as a compact laptop so the air is kinda redundant for me. I wouldn't be getting one.
>>
>>51582251
it's not, and I'm typing on one right now

I like the machine, but battery life craters as soon as you do anything remotely intensive on it and it gets fucking hot.
it's otherwise reasonably fast
kind of wish Apple didn't jew the shit out of you on RAM, it'd be beautiful with 6GB

>>51582458
be warned, battery life under Windows is really bad, doubly so if you're doing anything
longest I've had it on with Windows was like, 6-7 hours, wifi off, screen dimmed to lowest visible setting, only thing open was notepad++
actual web browsing use on Windows has been like 3-5 hours
with the CPU maxed out, it's like sub-2 hours
really wild battery life variability depending on what you do

under OSX, I get like 9-12 hours battery browsing the internet in Safari
I mostly boot into Windows to actually do work with the machine, but I'll boot to OSX for battery life reasons.
