I'm building a server with 10x2TB WD Reds (Feels safer to use 2TB than 4TB, considering their platter count and the rebuild on 4TB drives is gonna be a lot more balls sweating than 2TB) and I'm very likely gonna use them in RAIDZ-2.

So now I gotta figure out the hardware. I found this great case over here, but I'm unsure how I'm gonna handle 10-20 disk connections.

I imagine it'd be a nightmare to handle 20 SATA cables and you'd need a motherboard and a PCI card that can hold all those disks. So this case says:

So my confusion here is what kind of motherboard do I need to look for? I'll be using Software RAID so I obviously don't want a RAID controller, do I just look for a motherboard that has 5 internal SFF-8087 connectors? Can I just buy a regular motherboard and a PCI card that'd connect to those 5 from the case?

I'll basically be hooking up 20 SATA drives to 5 SAS connectors that will then go to my motherboard/PCI card. Is this the right way to look at this configuration?
