Kill everyone ever associated with redhat in any way.
Shill the fuck out of the steambox until devs actually start developing for it.
Once that's done, ddos steam servers perpetually until steam is kill.

There will be no such thing, becasue the desktop is being killed.
This isn't the 90's anymore, soon everything will be cloud based computing, say goobye to software as a product.
Enjoy the corporate controlled digital life, brought to you by Linux.
>>
Who is the majority of desktop users? Gamers. The year Steam OS presents a better alternative than Windows will be the year of the Linux desktop. It's a catch 22: people won't use Linux until developers start supporting it, but developers won't support it until more people use it
>>
>>51567407
GNOME scaling is weird in my experience. In Fedora, it scales perfectly to my display (in which everything must be scaled 2.4x). In Ubuntu, it does worse HIDPI scaling than what you described, as it is not to an integer factor, but a hard-coded 2x scaling mode for all things HIDPI. I wish there was something that explains the former point.
>>

Completely false

The workforce.

Not really. While the market share of desktops is down there are still more desktop users now than ever before
>>
>>51567550
>>51567554
I should of prefaced that with recreational users. Linux will never enter the workforce, the corporate world is too slow to change technology wise. But at home Linux still stands a chance
>>

>>
>>51567624

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
It's in businesses and the government that Linux actually has a decent market share.

>>
>>51567765

...As it is expected. But stating that Linux will never enter the workforce is where we disagree. The fact that Linux still has a long way to go I can agree on.

Linux has always been much stronger in the commerical and academic fields, and very weak on private, conventional, home computers. If anything I would say that the corporate world is where Linux still stands a chance, and that the private market is what looks bleak.

None of them perfect, most of them better than the Windows solution. The fact that you are stuck with whatever Microsoft/Apple gives you (e.g, Metro) makes this a serious issue.

I'm a KDE5-user myself. I do recognize that KDE5 is unstable as of today, but even KDE4 is more rich in features and more stable than the current Windows-solution.

It's not that Windows 10 is particularly bad. It's just not any good, and they are way too late to the party. And if Microsoft ever pulls another Windows 8 you will have to lube up your anus.

Nvidia and AMD open source their drivers so we can have good drivers.
Developers create their games in openGL by default and don't use DirectX that should die.

Bonus :
wayland is finally supported
Vulkan replace openGL

2015 couldn't be the year of the linux desktop obviously, but for me, it's the first time I feel things are moving into the right direction. I don't think 2016 will be the year of the linux desktop, but I think more users will start using it. Starting 2017 you can hope for a decent market share.
>>
I got a stupid question, but really stupid.
There's no advertisement for linux, and that's a really bad thing for it. Obviously it's famous for the professional, but whenever I start talking about it with normies that ask me what I do in my life etc. They don't know it and they are surprise about the various facts that I give them and ask me why people don't use it.
With a good advertisement, can it have more marketshare ? if they makes deals with manufacturers to sell laptops and desktop with linux pre-installed. is it possible that it becomes mainstream ? At least for normies that only need an office suite, music player and a web browser.

>>
>>51569415
You can't advertise Linux and expect people to use it unless it comes as an option, pre-installed on prebuilt computers. Most normies have a hard time installing Windows from a disk, much less making a live usb drive and installing from there.

After being used to installing windows and leave the computers to it as a technician my mind was blown by this in 2012

Since ubuntu, i have also tried debian, opensuse and also steamOS

SteamOS is actually nice too, my ps3/ps4 controllers worked ootb while in windows i had to use ds3 tool or motioninjoys malware

Redhat produces nothing but absolute cancer and then forces it on the entire linux ecosystem. No redhat, no funds for poottering AND no cancer to push.
