Why do you keks still run Windows 10?

>deletes CCleaner and Speccy and other legitimate software without asking
>>
Why the fuck would it not work?
>>
>>51565954

It works perfectly.

Microsoft just decided on their own that we don't need to run Speccy.

>Microsoft just decided on their own that we don't need to run Speccy.

so when will Microsoft decide that uTorrent programs "won't work" with Windows 10?
>>
>>51565920

Probably due to the fact Speccy triggered Windows UAC everytime it ran.

>Upgrading Windows 10 to a new build removes software.
This has happened since forever, get used to it if you opt for a Technical Preview, specially the fast ring. Expect a new build around march.

>Why do you keks still run Windows 10?
It works, it looks pretty and it runs pretty smooth for me, also the apps are pretty nice, specially the Messaging one.
>>
>>51566124
First, Windows notifies the user about it, second, this doesn't block the software to be installed again, third, even if is Windows 10, there are already 2 stable builds of Windows 10, consider these like two different operating systems, just like Windows 8 is different from Windows 8.1. When you upgrade to a new build, some software can't be ported to the new build.
>>
This is a screenshot from the first time after installing Windows 10 where it removes applications without W10 compatibility during the upgrade. Windows does the same thing when you upgrade from Vista to 7, 7 to 8, and 8 to 8.1.

It doesn't actively remove applications while you're using it or any time after the original install.
>>
Even Win XP removed programs how is this news?
>>
Microsoft is making their own Speccy like software that is mandatory and has microtransactions
>>
>>51566164
>When you upgrade to a new build, some software can't be ported to the new build
Yet another issue that's unique to Windows.

Billions in revenue and they can't figure this shit out?
>>
>>51566207
90% of the software can be ported, and the issue applies to Linux too, dependency hell and all.
>>
>>51566207

How is this unique to Windows in any way? Upgrading to OS X Lion made all applications dependent on Rosetta incompatible because Apple discontinued support for it. Upgrading Ubuntu releases will remove incompatible software and even revert manually updated libraries in order to make the update go smoother.

There isn't an OS in existence that has a 100% seamless update process.
>>
>>51565920

My employer requires me to do work on my computer.
>>
>>51566164
>When you upgrade to a new build, some software can't be ported to the new build.

Did you miss the part where Speccy works fine under the current build, Microshill?
>>
>>51566290

this
>>
>>51566299
I said it can't be ported, not that it will not work.

Learn to read, freetard. This can be solved if Piriform follows some fucking developing guidelines.
>>
>HURR IF YOU DON'T RUN WINDOWS 10 UR NEET
The highest paid people I know still use Windows 7 SP1 or later. Why? Because the companies aren't impulsive idiots. Switching takes time. I still use 7 on anything for production.
>>
>>51565920
Because I would like to reinstall 7 but I'm too lazy
>>
>>51566336

They don't need to "port" anything. It's a native application that runs just fine on the platform it was written for as it always has.
>>
>>51566134

I work for a government agency which has 3000 staff, but which has never had a significant Windows presence.

Went from IBM RS/6000 workstations in the early 90's, to Sun SPARC workstations in the mid 90's, Sun Rays in the mid 2000s, and Dell x86 machines running Red Hat around 2011.

Only people with Windows machines are the HR department and senior managers.

>>

>>
>>51566433
It makes sense. Expect to happen again when a new build of Windows 10 gets released around feb/mar.

>>51566361
Yes, we are talking about a new build of an operative system. The registry gets rebuild, the user profiles and environmental variables too. As I said, is just like upgrading from Windows 7 to 8,or from 8 to 8.1. Piriform makes shit software that doesn't follow enough guidelines to be ported when a upgrade occurs.

Do you really think Microsoft removes CCleaner because they like to? Why that program gets removed while the rest gets perfectly ported to a new build? Do you think is convenient for Microsoft and their clients that these kind of issues happen? Who is the one to blame when only Piriform software gets removed?

>>51566474
Reinstall ACT, check your firewall, run the program as admin and update both the program and the plugin.
>>

So i tried out Win10 on my laptop, and when I was trying it out, I dont know if it's the new OS still downloading and updating everything on my laptop, but the battery life felt like it got shorter so I have to keep my laptop charged the whole time while using it, has anyone else experienced this ? Also it seemed kind of buggy and slow at times. I went back to 8.1 but now im getting the notifcation saying "its free for a limited time" , should i just bite the bullet and upgrade? I use my laptop everyday for school and such, and i use it during class and dont want it dying on me in the middle of lecture.

Let's just say I'm an insider on this stuff.

I love and appreciate your feedback on Windows. I'm sorry for your inconvenience!

Kek, if that is your name, what can we do to improve your Windows 10 customer experience, sir?
>>
>>51568676
Yes, all that really happens. I've heard of people getting shit battery life even after they downgrade back to 8 or 7.
There's stuff about W10 that worries more than battery life so I'd personally never upgrade until forced to, but it's your call, nigga.
>>
>>51568850
thank you, i might not do it now that I hear other people have faced the same issues i had so ill probably stay away, thank you again!
>>
>>51568850
I'm sorry to hear about that.

Windows 10 incorporates many new power saving technologies.

If I could take just a minute, have you tried re-enabling the feedback setting in your privacy setting? That helps them better detect bugs since we can read your keystrokes and listen to your microphone.

Windows 10 has so much improvement going *back into* it that you are going to see continual improvements.

That's absolutely nothing like what happened here, Microsoft deciding what is and isn't allowed on your computer.

You should care because it sets a precedent for future events.

Microsoft doesn't actually want you to use your computer in a way that does not benefit microsoft or its business partners. What will they remove next to "protect" you? I mean, how will they interfere with your life next to protect themselves? Use a little instability in an alternative shell as an excuse to forcibly remove it and never take it off the blacklist ever, ensuring that every windows 10 user is using what is obviously windows 10, and advertising for windows 10 by using it with all its gaudy branding? Wouldn't surprise me. Tech companies are all over that "users are advertisements" and "brand image" shit, since apple does it.

It's the same scenario but less of a first world problem

Something happens that doesn't affect you because it doesn't happen to something you like
The same practice may affect you if applied to something you like
But it's okay because you can't express, with logic, that the practice will DEFINITELY be applied to something you like, right?

No. You can't prove that it's going to happen without richer data pertaining to the situation, but you also can't prove that it won't without that data, right down to how satya nadella is feeling right now, so it's sane to err on the side of caution, especially since the benefits of allowing microsoft to forcibly remove potentially problematic software are greatly outweighed by the risks to what I, and a lot of people, like.

The benefits to microsoft here aren't important to me unless they're also good for myself
>>
>>51569937
>It's the same scenario but less of a first world problem
murder is the same as uninstalling software during an update. murder, an unconsensual taking of another person's life, is the same scenario as an OS uninstalling software that broke during a large upgrade and most likely received legal consent to do so during the installation process.

>Something happens that doesn't affect you because it doesn't happen to something you like
it does affect me regardless of whether I like the software or not you retard, and if I didn't like speccy I wouldn't have installed it in the first place.

I hope you're not asking me to prove a negative as that would be the icing on the cake of how retarded you are. also, erring on the side of caution is fine, which is why I disabled all their tracking shit and removed things I don't like. you, on the other hand, are making baseless assumptions and claims and comparing software incompatibility and uninstallation to murder. one being a minor inconvenience to stop normalfags clogging up "the Google" with retarded queries as to why their software isn't working anymore and simply making them reinstall it, the other being the taking of someone's life. also, what is a full stop?

>The benefits to microsoft here aren't important to me unless they're also good for myself
what are you even trying to say?

I don't think it's with malicious intent. It's a very poor idea which should have never even been tried, then was pulled off poorly and had unintended consequences.

So no, I don't think windows 10 is "out to get you" in this instance, but yes, I do think they step well over the line of shit-that-an-OS-should-worry-about.
In other situations it is a piece of shit, such as all of the privacy and ad tracking bullshit, the updates you can't stop, and other such annoyances. In some ways they have gone backwards and allow less flexibility compared to previous versions.

As for why I use it, all of the software I love pissing around on either doesn't work in linux or is a fucking hassle to get going. That's all

Software that causes conflict with the system leading to potential BSOD is removed for the safety of the user and stability of OS.

Is that really hard to process? They save you the trouble of coming to /g/ and asking stupid questions. They remove the stupid out of you.

Stop with the FUD you Linux shill.

It's known to cause bluescreens.

It's been known to do it for over a year now and piriform has yet to fix it - therefore it comes under the same guidelines as any other malicious software.

plan E:

>>51572444
microsoft decided to give program more autonomy by decreasing user input, saving you from having the hassle of making decisions.
apple has been doing it for years.

that being said, im running windows 10. here's what you need to do:

1. make sure you are using the pro edition. it gives you access to group policy.

2. disable everything in windows updates through both the services and the group policy

the group policy basically allows you to disable everything. an invaluable tool. it gives you control.

This software ran perfectly. They removed it for no valid reason.
Even if the software is legitimately broken, the user should be notified and asked what to do. Uninstalling software without the user's permission is bad.

So I just "upgraded" to 10 last night. Worked fine, until I shut the thing down. After reboot, the thing freezes about a minute after login. I'm being forced to chan in safe mode right now. I'm thinking it's probably a driver problem, but I was wondering if any anons have had similar problems and could point me in the right direction.

The problem is Piriform, making shit software. If you install CCleaner on Windows 8 and you upgrade to 8.1 you would encounter the same problem.
