Why does C# make me nervous? Any C#/Unity devs have any tips for working in this language? For background I know a bit of HTML, a bit of Python, and jut finished the C++ sololearn app.

Learn Java before learning C#
When you're done, you'll appreciate C#

c# is easy

top cake, this
It makes you nervous because you feel, deep in your heart, that this language is The One, and you don't want to disappoint her.
I work with c# and Unity professionally as my day job, and I love it. If you did some c++ already, c# should be an awesome transition. Wtf do you mean by nervous?

Why

Garbage collection is a shitty design

I %100 agree, but with Unity, the pros far outweigh those cons. Also that's more of c# just being shitty with GC not Unity.

It's a great design for shitty programmers, aka the majority out there.
Objects are passed by reference, structs are passed by value.
Properties are great replacement for getters and setters.
Linq is very powerful and useful but can look ugly, can be very similar to writing SQL if you've ever worked with databases.
Learn some basic OO and you'll really be able to take advantage of the language, more so than Java.

You can just stick to linq extension methods, way less ugly
