Go myself a SDR kit today. Found there's two pager frequencies that's still in use that I've been monitoring.

Outside of the standard test messages, looking like they're mostly used by government services. Reports of bonfires, grass on fire, a healthcare server that's is low on disk space, and one possible death which included the victim's address.

Kind of worrisome since they're not encrypted.

Public service stuff usually isn't encrypted, but most places have gone digital. I live in the suburbs and, big surprise, the main city still uses analog for police fire and paramedic. I love to sit and listen to the police. It's comedy gold on weekends.

Yea, I hope to pick up the police's one as I suspect they'll be some interesting messages, although the stock antenna doesn't pick it up. Looking to build a better one.

Wonder if I can into this in the UK? Could be fun.

>tfw police state
Yeah probably not.

I used to send myself Vodafone pager messages using their web form and it would come up on my sdr kinda amusing.

Yes you can. not only that but you can broadcast messages via Vodafone see my last post
>>
What frequency is that on?
>>
>>51535065
Damn, I would love to that this but I can't find any free services to do it with.

157.947,250MHz for me. Using a cheap RTL-RDR so could be a little off. There's actually another pager frequency right next to it but has less traffic. Seems to only be used for test pages.

how do i into SDR?
>>
>>51535507
Just buy one from eBay. Search for 'rtlsdr'. They're little as $10 or so, and contains everything you need.

Stock antenna is shit I've heard but worked pretty good thus far, receiving all the local FM radio stations and these pagers.

type 'web sdr' into a search engine, no hardware required to get started.
