Greetings!

Previous thread: >>51463660

I am rebuilding the site, to make it load faster, and be a bit more user friendly.

Major goals:
-Site loads the correct parts table for your country, if the country is covered (previously loaded the US by default)
-Site loads faster (previously ~30 seconds, now ~6 seconds)

Minor goals:
-Site is more mobile friendly, and more friendly to those with smaller resolution screens

Previous bugs/issues that I have tried to fix:
-Header floats and takes up too much. Header now no longer floats.
-People do not like ipinfo (and have it blocked). Changed to ip-api.
-People with uMatrix addon installed disabled ipinfo. Site now defaults to loading the US if uMatrix blocks it from finding your country.
-Titles not correctly aligned. Should aligned now.
-Table was too wide. Should have a max width now.
-Weird white space under the video section. Fixed.
-Some images do not show in the popup when you hover over some parts. Fixed.

Items that I have added to the to-do list:
-Provide better fallback for users who have javascript disabled.

Hopefully, I have the major things fixed.

Please check it out:
Original site: http://www.logicalincrements.com/#
Currently in staging: http://www.logicalincrements.com/staging/#!/

Let me know if you find any errors, and/or if it loads faster and detects your country correctly.

Thank you.

Is FX 6300 really the best AMD processor to get?
>>
I propose adding a category after "Monstrous".

"literally a supercomputer"
>>
>>51516099
It is not the best, but it is good for mid-tier gaming. You can get the 8320 (or 8350, since the black friday deals are on), if you like.

Boxes look too thick.
And site not loading correctly.

>>51516099
For that price? yes.
8350 is a good option too for a bit more.
>>
>>51516099
The FX 6350 and 8320 are clearly in that picture you half wit
>>
>>51516105
I want to add a new category, but only after SLI/CF scaling with 3-4 cards is worth it.
>>
>>51516127
No difference with uBlock origin off other that it does autoselect region.
>>
>>51516133
Should be relatively soon with Pascal around the corner right? Should be interesting.
>>
>>51516127
>Boxes look too thick.
Length-wise? Height-wise?

>And site not loading correctly.
I cannot see the issue on your screenshot. What is wrong with it?

Thanks for the feedback!
>>
>>51516147
Ok, cool. That is the desired behaviour: If the site knows your country, to load your country's table. If not, it will default to loading the USA table.
>>
>>51516154
>Length-wise? Height-wise?
Height wise.

>What is wrong with it?
Just that i have to move around to see the total price, unlike with the original site.
>>
>>51516066
I know this is slightly off topic, but could you possibly update the A- panel list? Many of those monitors seem to be not available anymore.

>>51516189
Ok, I understand. The old table, when squeezed, would stack the cell text, pic related. People complained that it looked really ugly, and that there should be a fixed minimum width.

In the new table, I added a minimum width.
>>
Would you consider adding a guide for other case form factors, or a Facebook machine build.
>>
>>51516066
>still no Xeon builds

I don't trust Intel's "antitheft", and I'm sure there's someone else on /g/ that agrees with me.
>>
>>51516204
I am doing that now. Goal is to have screens updated by this weekend. Already updated the gaming screens to be current.

I apologize for being late with screens. Many people have pointed out that the screen section is outdated, but I have not been able to find the time, till very recently.

DESTITUTE TIER
>>
I have a FX-6300 and an HD 7850 (2 GB)

Would a new GPU (probably NVidia) be enough to allow me to play new games on high for the next two years? Or should I get a new CPU too?
>>
>>51516293
7850 ~= R7 265 ~= R7 370

What is your budget? If you can afford a significantly better card than the 370, then it is worth upgrading.
>>
>>51516223
I saw that problem in the last thread and i understand it.
Its just that its quite annoying to have to scroll horizontally.

Meanwhile about the thick boxes, i feel like its just wasted space.
Length-wise looks good.
>>
>>51516322

I suppose the same as when I bought the 7850, $200 or so. Guess a GTX 960 or a R9 380X.
>>
>>51516353
I am about 00 pixels off making the sire 1366x768 friendly. I will try and see what I can do.

It would be cool if, when hovering over things, it would intelligently decide whether to show the tooltip thing below or above.

Sometimes it gets cut off and you need to scroll down when there's perfectly usable space above.
>>
>>51516468
I have this issue with the original version too.

Also what i would be missing if i wanted to use a GA-B85M-D3H instead a GA-Z97X-UD3H for a I5-4460 and a GTX 750Ti?

I am using Qtip, which has not changed from the old version to the new. Yes, I am aware of this, but it will have to wait till I fix the other bugs first.

Thanks for the feedback!
>>
>>51516577
Good catch. Thanks!
>>
Some info on features for certain products would be good.
i.e.
>ASUS X99-A
>Supports 3-way 16x SLI, M.2 SSD

>Corsair 200R
>8 fan slots, toolless drive bays, USB 3.0
>>
>>51516700
Corsair 200r is recommended in Mexico list over HAF912.
>>
>>51516066
how cheap can you go and still play 1080p video stably?
>>
>>51516725
Destitute build should be able to play 1080p videos. Even 10-bit
>>
>>51516700
I have done this for GPU, RAM, and HDDs, and PSUs to a certain extent. Will need to do that for cases and mobos. Thanks!
>>
I'm not sure you should be recommending a 5820k in an SLI build. Varies from mobo to mobo but if you use a 5820k with the X99-Gaming-G1 WIFI recommended in the Extremist build you'll only be getting 8x and 4x on the two GPUs, which would be a pretty heavy bottleneck on even the 980.
>>
Why not recommend the EVGA 600B for a cheap 600W PSU?
>>
>>51516798
They're hec OEM.
>>
Speaking of 80+ PSUs, the EVGA 430W isn't 80 plus bronze. It's 80+.
>>
>>51516773
>you'll only be getting 8x and 4x on the two GPUs

Quoting:

"2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x16 (PCIE_1, PCIE_2)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIE_1 slot; if you are installing two PCI Express graphics cards, it is recommended that you install them in the PCIE_1 and PCIE_2 slots.
2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x8 (PCIE_3, PCIE_4)
* The PCIE_4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIE_1 slot. When the PCIE_4 slot is populated, the PCIE_1 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.
* When an i7-5820K CPU is installed, the PCIE_2 slot operates at up to x8 mode and the PCIE_3 operates at up to x4 mode.
(All PCI Express x16 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)"

Doesn't this mean that with two cards installed, you get x8/x8?
>>
>>51516862
Fixed. Thanks!
>>
>>51516066
You gotta work on those peripherals. Those are all old and outdated. Last updated on N/A is a bit of an issue.
>>
>>51516066
Thanks for the great site. I just used it for a build today.

One thing I noticed, links for MSI Z97 PC Mate and ASRock H97 Pro4 are backwards.
>>
>>51516947
Mice and gaming screens are updated. Normal screens by this weekend.

Keyboard, not sure.
>>
>>51516890
Many people would be using dual-slot cooler GPUs, I assume.
As noted a 5820k forces the 3rd slot to 4x mode due to its limited PCI-e lanes (I assume).

Some unsubstantiated forum posts from quick googling say that 16x/4x or 8x/4x does cause performance issues, but I haven't found definitive benchmarks.

It's best to err on the side of caution.
>>
>>51517018
Considering recently I've only been looking at keyboards and normal screens that makes sense.

On another note seriously thanks for the site. I used it for my first self built PC and now whenever anyone asks me for hardware recommendations I take them there.
>>
>>51517020
>It's best to err on the side of caution.
That is a good point. I will check for mobos with more space between them.

Thank you.
>>
>>51517057
Most welcome. It is a good site because of community feedback. You comments, suggestions, and criticisms are what makes it good.
>>
Op is that table part of the code? If so and if the table is taking too long to load screenshot it and make it a image

>>

It is loaded, not part of the coded. It covers many different countries beside the USA, and each table is loaded on demand.

>>51517076
To make this perfectly clear:
5820k has 28 PCIe lanes. With a 5930k or 5960x it will have full bandwidth (40 lanes), but with the wifi card installled with the board will take bandwidth. As will the SSD if an M.2 PCIe X4 ssd is installed.
>* When an i7-5820K CPU is installed, the PCIE_2 slot operates at up to x8 mode and the PCIE_3 operates at up to x4 mode.
> x8 mode and x4 mode.
>>
>>51517476

>Also what i would be missing if i wanted to use a GA-B85M-D3H instead a GA-Z97X-UD3H for a I5-4460 and a GTX 750Ti?
Any reccomendations about this?
I'm about to buy everything this friday.
>>
>>51517753
Nothing is missing. You just lose a few moo features (ability to OC) etc.
>>
>>51517840
I was planning to get a locked CPU so its not a problem, what other features im going to miss?
>>
>>51517840
>You just lose a few moo features
mobo*, not moot.
>>
>>51517876
For the full list of differences: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=GA-Z97X-UD3H&bop=And&CompareItemList=-1%7C13-128-607%5E13-128-607%2C13-128-710%5E13-128-710&percm=13-128-710%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24

Also remember that the UD3H has better power management, though that may be less of an issue since you do not OC.
>>
>>51517893
I guess i will buy the UD3H after all, PSU and Motherboard are some stuff i don't see myself replacing ever so better invest on them.
>>
>>51517928
>>51517893
Also do you think a 430W PSU would be enough for that build? or should i push it for 500W?
>>
>>51517614
It's less of a mobo problem and more of a CPU problem, although a more expensive mobo should support at *least* 8x/8x. Note that with stuff like M.2 Key M and other PCIe peripherals, you'll have even more bandwidth issues.
>>
>>51517942
A quality PSU at 430W is fine: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7764/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-and-gtx-750-review-maxwell/22

>>51517958
Yeah, I may take out the 5820K altogether, so as not to worry about it.

Any more feedback on the staging site? Can I take it live?
>>

Is it ok? Can I take it live? Any bugs?

On my side, I do not see any issues/bugs.
>>
>>51518074

>>

Have you considered adding the amazon/newegg review score next to the part when you mouse over it along with the other info?

I noticed quite a few bad reviews for the RAMPAGE V EXTREME even though it's considered the higher quality of the monstrous tier.
>>
Minor nitpick, but the image of the stock cooler of the 860k is instead the cooler from the FX processor family. I think the major difference is that the Athlon's cooler has no copper heat pipes or something.
>>
>>51518746
I am not sure if that is a good. Review scores are skewed, particularly when they are few in number. People are more likely to submit a score when they are angry.

Why isn't the enthoo pro M or the fractal define design S in any of your recommendations? These 2 are pretty much best in class in class at their price point.

Newegg is selling the design S for 59.99$ right now.
>>
>>51518912
I can look into them. But this is about getting feedback for the new rebuilt site, whether it has errors/issues/bugs, not about the content within. I will definitely do a thorough sweep of the content once I am confident that the site is bug free.
>>
Dude this is awesome
Wish it was more mobile friendly but this has already been a huge help
Keep it up

>>
The expandable component info at the end is often taller than the screen. While easy to navigate when all are collapsed, its a clusterfuck when you expand most of them.

Add a collapse button the the bottom of each section, so you can close it after reading, without having to scroll up

a license you gat obtain if you work with children a lot. it serves two purposes. One, it lets the children parents know that you have skills to work with children, and 2nd, it also covers your ass if there were any accidents or anything to the children you are responsible for
>>
>>51519354
I am a programmer, I do not work with children. Also, is that a NA thing? I am in SEA, and I have never heard of such a thing before.
>>
>>51519365
all this guide stuff though is focused on children, and you get their input all the time for improvements. I'm just saying that a licence on the site showing that you are trained to work with children will give the children parents reassurance when they see their children on your site.

You know tinfoils on /g/ use RequestPolicy, NoScript, uMatrix.

Try and keep the amount of stuff you need to whitelist to make the site usable to a minimum.
And don't use Google Botnet stuff like gstatic.com
