Is anyone else sick of thin laptops honestly I can't stand them I'd rather a thicker laptop like a think pad or hell a 2011 MacBook. Anyone else agree?
I have a zenbook™ ux31a black™ and a x220.
And I like the x220 more. Both are about the same speed.
Both have ips displays with ssds

I'd be fine with a thicker laptop if they filled that space with more battery and not a numpad.
I can't wait for the T460p. I hope they use 45w CPUs with the option of no dGPU and have dual batteries.

Fuck no. Thin, light, fanless laptops with SSDs are really neato.

too bad they can't make them resilient enough to last 3 years without completely falling apart
You would think having less moving parts would make it more durable
this indicates to me that fans are actually really fucking nice to have...they consume basically zero battery power, are nearly inaudible, and keep the laptop running 20C cooler so it doesn't need to throttle itself on pornhub

>are nearly inaudible
That's my biggest problem with them, they rarely are "nearly inaudible". Either the fan controls are absolutely retarded and let the fan run at highest speed for a second before turning them off again because the temperature dropped, just to turn them back up again. Or they are loud as shit and turn on when anything lightly taxing is running, like a Flash video and they don't turn off for a long time.

You might try replacing yours (probably cheap sleeve bearings) with some fluid or multi-ball bearings
The reason they have to spin up so fast is that the motor has to overcome the inertia of the fan, or else it could burn out if the fan doesn't spin. It's the same reason that big fans have switches that go from Off->Hi->Medium->Low
If laptops didn't skimp on fans they could use better speed control settings

ThinkPad p50 done and go

Agreed.
Personally, I prefer a notebook computer like the X60 or the X200T or the T4XX series that have some thickness.
I like rectangularity, and a solid feel.

>expensive
>not out yet
Maybe in 4 years when it becomes cheaper

I'm having fun with my yoga 2. I can fap to chinese cartoon during lunch break at my college's bathroom.

maybe if you didn't have the motor skills of a retarded 3 month old you wouldn't keep breaking them
I've got a T410 and enjoy its bulk. I'm probably biased because there are three kids running around this house, but still.
Any laptop made todays is always going to be pure fucking garbage so the least it can do is be thin.

Mine's too big, buyers regret getting the 13 inch version.
