I can hear a whining when playing high frame intensive games coming through my headset. The headset is wireless so when I unplug it from the charger it goes away. Is this normal for a USB powered headset or is something I have defective? The headset is a Logitech G930.

Are you plugging it into your motherboard usb to charge? Probably has shit interference handling which causes buzzing sounds

Yeah but it does the same thing when connected to one of the front USB ports.

Which is also connected to the motherboard... try charging it with a wall socket usb charger like you might have for your phone

My front audio jack does this, but the one in the back doesn't. Not sure what causes it, but I don't use the front jack anymore for this reason.

Yeah I was just doing that and it goes away. I'm guessing its my mobo then? Is there really a way to stop it from doing that or is it just an issue with some boards?

Most motherboards are shit when it comes to sound due to the interference, main reason to get a separate DAC or a good sound card. But since your using a wireless set probably just want to not plug it in when using it.

put some ferrite cores on the cable and see it if stops.

Getting a separate sound card wouldn't do much for this headset since its USB for everything not just power. I'll keep it powered by my spare wallwart.

this happens to me in csgo when I get over 300-400 frames, if I cap it to 200 it's ok or at least not as noticeable.

Using a 3.5mm jack into the front of the pc btw so no it's not exclusively a USB thing

That is a relief. This is actually a replacement mobo since the original just did not work properly. I was freaking out thinking I somehow got another bad one.
