So what's your opinion on Material Design, /g/?

Wasted space, revolutionary, or a gimmick?
>>
Its okay.
>>
It's okay. I liked the styling before but this is fine too. The animations are really slick and it feels kinda magical to use.
>>
i can be great but too many people interpret it as 'let's just put everything inside cards.'

the early promise of animation rich transitions has failed to materialise (har har) as well.

needs some more time to mature, particularly animation libraries.

I've used it too, and it really feels different and mature compared to earlier versions, but I have a feeling it's not complete yet.
>>
>>51465064
It provides an easy interface to program for.
It is pretty hard to fuck it up and make look bad
Fits perfectly with the whole concept of they way HTML works.

It won't go away for a while.
I can't even envision what would come after it.
>>
It's just a thing that should make things marginally more consistent. Did they even have a name for whatever came before?

>Did they even have a name for whatever came before?

Wasn't that "holo?"
>>
NOT FUCKING TECHNOLOGY

Revolutionary wasted space gimmick
>>
>>51465064
I don't like it. I feel like it's geared towards 12 year old girls.
>>
I hate the new material design keyboard. I've switched back to the Holo one.

Otherwise the design seems beautiful.

This
>>
>>51465064
I like it and I make the GUI people in my group use them.
I whip them if they don't.

Autist pls go

Looks great.

I just can't really find a complete web framework that implements it.

All of them seem to be missing something.
The only sorta-complete one is Angular Material, but who would ever want to use Angular?

I just hope Polymer's paper elements get chips, date- and time pickers and tables soon. Then I'll be happy.
>>
>>51465064
It feels refreshing to use.

I just don't like when people use too many sandwich menus, use an FAB poorly (Floens) or use too many shadows.
>>
>battery wasting animations
>battery wasting bright white everywhere (for some)
>removal of menu navigation key in favour of pop out menu activated by button in top left corner, the hardest point to reach for most people, one handed use impossible
>wastes space to the point where small iPhones display more information than an android with a much larger screen
>>
I love it. The animations are all so smooth and feel great. The only problem is inconsistency with older apps and people who have no clue what they're doing
>>
It's alright, better than shitty gradients and lens flares all over the place like we used to have.

Apparently the alpha for papyros is "92%" done so we'll see how well it works when used over an entire OS then. I'm getting a feeling it will break most programs they haven't specifically tweaked to work perfectly with it but I'm still willing to give it a shot.
>>
> is that a button or a label? Don't know what is clickable anymore
> gay ass color schemes, never fucking black
> 5" screen, 2 inches of white space or useless cute graphic
Not a bad idea but implemented badly in most cases.

Aesthetic
>>
I love it looks like iOs
>>
>>51473894
I think Google's implementation of material design looks better than iOS.
>>
It looks good on Google products, but it feels weird when I stumble over a random .exe material application. LOOT for Skyrim, an example.

Material web apps can and do look good but it still feels weird.
