I don't know if this is the right place, but what's the best controller for PC? I honestly don't even know where to start or who to ask. I'm looking for something with two sticks that I can play FPS with, and before you start screaming, it's because I got RSI in my left hand from playing too much and it doesn't seem to want to heal. Any reccomendations or redirections to where I can get help would be appreciated.

Either XB1 or PS4. There is now a XB1 wireless receiver for PC so you don't have to be connected with usb anymore. Also native support on windows without any extra drivers.

Most of the major console controllers will work on PC.

Do PS4 controllers work for PC? I know last time I tried setting up a PS3 controller for PC, all I could find was shady chinese made drivers that hardly worked and showed ads in the settings menu.

That aside, I know the xbox 360 controllers have drivers officially by MS. Nvidia has the shield controller, too. I'm not sure which I like better. The 360 controller plugs directly to your computer (or a wireless adapter, independent of WiFi). The Nvidia controller requires use of WiFi and requires you have an Nvidia graphics card. But it has a little track pad that's very useful, too.

If you already own a PS3 or PS4 controller, just get the drivers for them. They no longer need shady drivers and Sony's controllers are really good.

Wait, it doesnt? :(
I fucking hate the fact that MS makes it hard to use DS3 on Windows, there are japaneses drivers somewhere which makes you use your DS3 withouth the need of any service or program running on the background (you can even use it wirelessly)
Sadly, they are not signed so you need to disable driver signature on boot whenever you wanna use them.

ds4/xbox (whichever). People usually prefer xbox shape, i love ds3/ds4, had x360 but sold it - it's all about preferences. Also, if you're technologically retarded (no shame in this, don't worry, a lot of people there is), ds4 have disadvantage in 'community-made' drivers - less user-friendly than xbox pad supported by microsoft right out of the box. Of course it's not like ds4windows or scp is hard to use, no - it's just still less comfortable than xbox pad to set up. After that, both are 'press the button on gamepad and it's connected'

You won't master q3a on gamepad, but there is nothing wrong in playing generic modern shooters (especially singleplayer) on it. Hell, it's even comfortable when you'll get used to it.

>buuuut precisiiooonnn
>and speed
You need precision and speed in arena shooters, not in call of duty 24 singleplayer. And slower/tactical shooters are usually more about 'thinking' and will forgive slower aiming, especially in games like CSGO when usually it's all about predicting where enemy will appear (of course i'm not saying i'll ever reach proper ranks in csgo on my gamepad account, or that it's a good idea to play csgo seriously on gamepad, god no. But gn4/mg1 is fun as well).

I use xbone. Kinda nice and it's all clicky like the game cube

>>51466300
I think the d-pad itself is really good. It's stiff and clicky with short travel kind of like a gbasp/vita dpad. The position is kind of awkward though. Still, it's a huge improvement of the 360 dpad.

Honestly, unless you specifically need the dpad, I recommend the 360 controller. I've used a 360 controller, a xbone controller, and a ps3 controller all with my pc.

PS3 Controller Pros: Really comfy, customizable
Cons: Slightly more expensive than 360 controller, triggers suck, harder to set up, must have good bluetooth card in pc
It was a little annoying to have to install the software to set it up but once that was done it just worked fine

Xbone controller Pros: comfiest controller, just werks, can use with regular headphones, AA or rechargable
Cons: not fully compatible with everything (I believe it works with everything that a 360 controller works with but I don't think that anything uses the new features), way more expensive than both other options
Literally plug it an and it works with no configuration. Windows 10 only

360 Controller Pros: really cheap, parts availability, AA or rechargeable, just works with everything, compatible with ps3 joysticks (with only slight modification)
Cons: dpad sucks, stock joysticks wear a little fast (both the hardware and the rubber grips)
Literally just plug in the wireless adapter, click the button, start playing. I got a broken one for free and I was able to repair it by scrapping a ps2 (or maybe ps1) controller and it's held together for like 4 years now. I replaced all of the buttons and swapped the joysticks over from an old playstation controller and it's been awesome. Desoldering was annoying but that's not a fault of the controller. Also, you can use it on an xbone as long as it is connected to your pc and you are streaming to your pc.

It's a super easy swap. You just need a small flathead screwdriver to disassemble the controller, and some nail cutters to take a small piece out of the cup where the left stick contacts the left should button.

See pic for more details.

Also, I'm thinking about buying a red/gold chrome case and buttons for my controller (iron man style). Thoughts?

There is no escaping the botnet anyway. I'm using Windows and I use a popular smartphone, might as well just embrace it.
>>
I would actually recommend a Dualshock 4, you just have to download DS4Windows, mess with the settings for like 5 minutes, and then you can use it wirelessly or wired.

Otherwise, get an Xbone controller.

Advantages of DS4:
>trackpad so you can control the computer mouse
>use wirelessly through Bluetooth
>customize (or disable the light bar)

Advantages of XB1 controller:
>no need to download drivers on Windows
>games with controller support generally have Xbox button prompts and not PS4 prompts
>way better battery life

I recommend the DS4 for the trackpad alone but in the end, it's your choice.

Even though I replaced the xbox sticks with the playstation sticks, they seem to be the same part. The sensors are a different color but the sticks swap over fine. Initially I though they were different because the old ones were so worn that no sticks would work with them. Desoldering the broken joysticks and extracting the replacements was super fucking annoying but it needed soldering anyway. You can see the broke ass sticks in the picture since I saved all of the old parts.

Any thoughts on iron man controller?
>>
