I'm working on building my own, using this board. I picked this board over the Odroid because it not only has a SATA port, but will boot from it too. Other boards like the Banana Pi have SATA ports, but you have to boot from an SD card or eMMC. I'd rather use a SSD or even a laptop HD because they have superior performance, last longer, and offer more storage per $ spent.

Another thing that interested me in this board is that it's one of the few ARM boards specifically supported by OpenBSD. Now being supported, and being worth using as a mobile OS are two different things, but it's something I'd like to at least give a shot. I don't like Android (better than iOS I guess) at all, and don't think much higher of Ubuntu or Debian, which unfortunately seem to be the most commonly used OSes for these ARM SBCs. OpenBSD on the other hand is my prefered OS in general.

So if i wanted to blow 200 bucks on a tablet. What would you buy /g/?

If you want something half-decent you're going to have to buy second-hand. New stuff at those prices have wonderful specs and lousy implementation, support and performance.

It's a odd crossroads for me.
On one hand, word, browser, games and video are all i use a tablet for.
On the other hand, i don't want to be left behind on the next wave of tech....
