Material design is better, but this still brings back great memories.

Great thread

How the fuck do you even read this shit?

Are you serious

Yes, I always see these types of graphs but I never knew how to read them.

Is this the people I share /g/ with?

Huh? They're pretty self-explainatory.

with your eyes
>>
>>51453815
The way I see this is all the versions in 90%+ of devices except kikat lollipop and marshmallow, which is impossible.
>>
>>51453720
i can see why it can be hard to read but you just take a vertical fraction of the graph and it gives you the ratios of android versions in that time frame
>>
>>51453854
Have you ever gone to a school
>>
>>51453720
ie in this point in time around 63% of all android phones have either marshmallow, lollipop or kitkat
>>
>>51453876
Oh shit, it makes sense now. Thanks.

>>51453881
Never seen one of these before.
>>
>>51453854
Dude, read the dates at the bottom.

For example, in February 2012, there were 10% Froyo users, 70% Gingerbread users, less than 5 percent Honeycomb, and 2% with ICS.
>>
>>51453894
Yeah, I got it now, thanks.

Material design at least sorta looks original, versions before that looked like a Chinese attempt at copying iOS' GUI.

KitKat was simple and timeless. It's the Snow Leopard of Android.

Lollipop is where we started getting into ElLionCapitan territory.

>>
>>51454195
Not trying to deny that, just wanted to say that you originally wrote about how great KitKat looks while you have TouchWiz on your phone. TouchWiz is actually quite a difference in design compared to pure KitKat, though Samsung changes it from time to time to time to make it somewhat fit with the corresponding Android version.
>>
>>51454203
The Sony UI is the only UI I would consider if I was told I have to use one
It's has a different feel to stock, yet oddly familiar and a pleasant experience
>>
>>51454234
Yes, I know touchjizz is different than stock. I like the dialog boxes, and the settings menu, even the keyboard. All I said is that they did a pretty good job for kitkat UI, if you don't take in account the homescreen, which can be easily replaced by another launcher.
>>
>>51453707
christ
5% of people still on Gingerbread and over 30% on Jellybean?
>>
>>51453720
See the Y axis description to the left, it says 0% repeated by every 10 until 100%. These are the perecentages of the devices that they have collected knoweldge of.
Then you see the X axis description, it has time, commonly t So over time, the colors illustrate by newest addition in the bottom first, what versions took how big a portion of the percentages at any given time.

Going all the way to the left, you see that the Red bar which is matching Kitkat aka version 4.4 is taking up a lot of space, but that makes sense because as per the x axis aka time, it's quiet recent. Then you see lolipop, it's small in the graph, but looking at the trends of the other versions, we can expect it to follow a similar pattern of growth.

Just spend a minimum of 5 min, starring heavily at the graph, don't give up. Maybe you will understand then.

>>5145434 Some ios users aren't updating because they don't want to. If you buy a mid of low end Samsung you're out of luck.
>>
>>51454381
The FreeXperia builds have a particularly nasty bug, though. The phone takes half a minute to wake up, almost every time.

The Omni Rom builds have the same bug, but only when first booting up, or after a restart, but the rom itself is quite limited in features compared to CM.

CM 12.1 runs the best, but games and apps in general feel laggier. And besides, MD is not really my thing.

Can I change the way it looks without changing the kernel or is rolling back to KitKat my only option?

Honestly I'm glad I skipped that whole train-wreck that is Lollipop. Between memory leaks, wake locks, and everything else I don't feel bad. My next phone will ship with Marshmallow so it's all good.

Stagefright was patched by Google for everything back to Kit Kat. If you didn't get the patch it's not Kit Kat's fault.

Rooted the phone, want to install CyanogenMod.
Stock kernel was ICS. Can upgrade up to Lollipop. Do I upgrade to Kitkat, Lollipop or stay on ICS? Is the newest the best in this case?
