Given that I'm running a 6 year old pc setup at this point, is it worth going for a 6th gen intel over a 4th gen one? 6th gen supports ddr4, which sounds nice, but for gaming (main use) is apparently irrelevant, and doesn't seem to be any faster either. However, going for the new 1151 socket would make the setup a bit more upgradable/futureproof.
What is your take on this, /g/?

Not OP but I'm currently using a i7-860 that's 2.80Ghz.
For modern games is it worth upgrading the processor for a gen 6? For example an i5 -6600k
Or should I wait for Zen?

Newegg has the 4790k for $300 on sale atm, while the 6700k is $400. Which is $60 over suggested retail. Maybe it would be worth it if they ever release any for people to actually buy.
if you want an i5 the 6500 isn't bad in its range.
