>spend hours running stability tests
>everything is honky dory
>play a game that uses like 60% of the cpu
>shit craps itself after half an hour

Why does this happen? It doesn't make any sense.
>>
>>51433002
Install occt and run large data set. If it passes for 4 hours then run prime 95 small fft overnight.
>>
>>51433002
Who is this semen demon?
>>
>>51433002
Define "craps itself".

How many days did you leave memtest running for?
>>
>>51433039
I ran Prime95 for 4 hours
>>51433065
It just shuts down. No bluescreen or anything.
>>
>>51433076
Depending on the failure it could still be RAM.

RAM errors are the fucking worst, they can cause just about anything.
Memtest the fuck out of it.
>>
>>51433076
>Prime95 for 4 hours

lol

Prime95 has 80 something test total and 4 hours is not nearly enough. Each test should be ran for 10 minutes at least and it takes roughly 17 hours to do all of them.

Start over with occt, it'll weed out the issues every quick unlike p95.
>>
>>51433099
I'm pretty sure the ram is good since the event logs show a hardware error with a cpu core

>>51433123
Will do in that case
>>
>>51433002
In BIOS/EFI: enable Spread Spectrum and disable Turbo.

that did the trick for me.

>disable turbo
Just return the CPU in that case, it's completely gimped.
>>
>>51433099
Holy shit I fucking hate ram
The most random shit

PC not shutting down, fans staying on and leds too, random programs not launching, windows crapping out, cpu overheating???!?!?
>restore ram to 1333mhz
everything fine.
>>
>>51433002
Repeat this phrase:
"The real world is a special case".
Seriously, tests and diagnostics are one thing, a customer's workload is a whole 'nuther.
>>
>>51433002
NNNGHHHHH
>>
>>51435254
While this is true, why? Consumer workloads doesn't even use close as much power compared to stress tests. Why does a hardware that can easy run different stress tests that push it to the limit and fails as something like games?
>>
With memtest if I think a dimm slot might be faulty should I test working ram on all slots or willl it generally straight up not recognise ram if the slot is fucked. Getting the buzzing audio and frozen screen on both linux and windows with demanding and easy tasks (random).
>>
>>51433002
Hate this so much.
Leave gpu running for 2 hours on unigine heaven just fine.
Run battlefield 4 and see artifacts and glitches.
>>
>>51433002
You put a steady load on the hardware.
Your power management system could fuck with the voltage when it deems the load low enough.
Force constant voltage to fix.
>>
What PSU are you using? Kinda sounds like it might be shutting down
>>
Did you stress test I/O as well or just the processor?
>>
>>51433002
pro tip op, turn of xmp manually tune your ram. even if you use the standard frequency for your platform (not overclocked) xmp fucks shit up.

TUrn of xmp = stable system.

Holy crap I've been bingewatching AKBingo and didn't recognize her.

>dat air ocarina
>>
>>51433002
Because your gpu is faulty.
>>
>>51433076
>Prime95
You god trolled. Running AVX linpack with almost all memory and running OCCT GPU-test with dx9 and lowest resolution is the only way to test if you shit is stable.
>>
>>51435561
because games are random loads.
>>
>>51435561
Because bugs in the game or drivers.
