Hey /g/. I'm building a new rig soon and I want your opinions on the graphics card. NVIDIA or AMD? And why. Provide sauce if you can. My budget is preferably lower than $150 but I am willing to go $200. I will be gaming a lot, but also some mildly intensive SolidWorks
AMD is cheaper, and same quality. However, watch out for marketing. Intel tells you the number of physical cores, so a quad core would act as 8, and AMD tells you the opposite, as it would act as 8, but be physically 4.

Intel has the best gpus

>AMD is cheaper
not true, the 970 is currently the best value for money currently. you can find them for $250 and they perform on par with the $550 fury and $500 980 once OCed

Both the 970 and 390 are way better deals than the next few cards up, especially at 1080p and even at 1440p. There's really no reason for the 980 and 390x to exist at all and the Fury/Fury X are pretty shit too for the price. The only card more expensive than the 970 and 390 worth its salt right now is the 980ti, and it costs double while giving around 35% more performance which really sucks ass. The more you spend on a GPU, the more you get jewed the fuck out.

r9 270x for the low end budget, r9 380 for the high end. If getting used get a non ref r9 290 at the high end or a used 280x at the low end budget.

hearing good things about 380 and it's just over 200. I personally have owned a 270x and it got the job done on most games at ultra settings. Currently use the 970 and I haven't found a game it can't handle yet.
380x just released and it's pretty viable for 1080p, stronger than 4gb 960 and 380
Nvidia is better because more games are using nvidia physics. The 960 is a good card and it's only $200
