Hi /g/
I really need your help with this. My laptop has been slowly falling apart and it finally reached a point where I need to replace it.
The problem is that I have very important shit on my HDD that I need to export to a usb or something. How would I go about doing that considering my laptop doesn't work?

See those six screws? Buy a torx screwdriver on ebay and unscrew them. Take off the metal lid and run a strong magnet over the round disk you see there. It will revitalize the platters. Screw the lid back on and connect it to your new machine with a PCI to Sata card adapter. You should be able to get all the data copied over!
sata-usb thing is from an old external usb drive.

Don't do this, the capacitors often give out the wrong voltage which could fry the PCB in the HDD!

This is very risky. If the HDD is already falling apart, putting it into an HDD dock could make all the data become corrupt. The best is to do this

First, then use either an adapter cable or the dock. Trust me, I'm an engineer.
