That deformed foot made me chuckle.

>>51412294
Because I find I'm more efficient in a minimal WM (AwesomeWM) than a bloated GUI such as Gnome. Don't get me wrong, I think that theme looks excellent for people who just use Linux as a basic desktop OS, screw the edgyfags.

Let's not forget that it's probably functionally nothing like OS X. Nothing wrong with Linux distros but this looks like a shitty clone.

You are kidding arent you ?
Are you saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?

That sounds preposterous to me.

If it were true (and I doubt it), then companies would be selling computers without a windows. This clearly is not happening, so there must be some error in your calculations. I hope you realise that windows is more than just Office ? Its a whole system that runs the computer from start to finish, and that is a very difficult thing to acheive. A lot of people dont realise this.

Microsoft just spent $9 billion and many years to create Vista, so it does not sound reasonable that some new alternative could just snap into existence overnight like that. It would take billions of dollars and a massive effort to achieve. IBM tried, and spent a huge amount of money developing OS/2 but could never keep up with Windows. Apple tried to create their own system for years, but finally gave up recently and moved to Intel and Microsoft.

Its just not possible that a freeware like the Linux could be extended to the point where it runs the entire computer fron start to finish, without using some of the more critical parts of windows. Not possible.

I think you need to re-examine your assumptions.

>linux based os (probably ubantoe)

instead of trying so hard, why not just use osx already?
>>
>>51417593
>also why does steam still use the old looking buttons?
At least on Windows and Linux it seems to pretty much implement its own UI toolkit.

It even features the usual lack of custom UI polish, like password fields blinking to indicate focus when the window's not even active and you're actually typing your password into IRC.
>>
>OS X as rendered by someone who has only seen low-quality screenshots of OS X
I have a fucking Adwaita patch that looks more like OS X than that shit. That shell theme is giving me AIDs.
>>
>>51417593
>also why does steam still use the old looking buttons?
Because the OS X and Linux ports of Steam and wrappers of all Valve games were made by contractors. The ones responsible for the original OS X port are all done with what they were obliged to program, so they're long gone, now. The buttons could look like that forever, theoretically.
>>
>>51417593
That's steams issue afaik
It is fucking gross though, spotify/discord look 10x better.
>>51417717
OSX doesn't have mouse focus, you should really be able to get yourself in the situation you described.

The closest I get is when I'm used to loonix having mouse focus so I hover my mouse over irc and start typing but it goes to safari/steam/terminal/whatever I was last in.

For your scenario you'd have to be up to entering your password, go into irc, chat shit, then hover over safari to finish entering your password.

At least in my experience.

It's a mix of some GTK 3 theme I found online somewhere and a Gnome shell theme. Also Vim theme is neonwave.
I am on a mac so people just think I'm using OS X lol.
>>

i don't have the balls to install a distro on my mac, have you had much trouble or complaints with it so far? i've been seriously considering it

I hear the new retina Macbook pros have issues with trackpad drivers to GNU/Linux on. I've got a 15" 2010 Macbook Pro and since I'm too stupid to install Arch I installed Ubuntu and works like a dream. All the drivers worked perfectly out of the box. I just switched to the Nvidia proprietary driver so my graphics card actually runs shit proper. Switching is easily done in Ubuntu btw. I will probably switch to Arch eventually once I get the hang of not being retarded.

With the big ass icons for old people with bad eyes/nerds and probably going to show off a new "feature" where you have to enable the ability to change the background image via config file.

BRAND NEW FEATURE.

Gnome smells the the foot the fucking use for the logo. It's gotten so shit it's pathetic.

My point was more that using the gnome wm is the worst option available, which also has themes support

Anons, take whatever you want as wm, but just think about the alternatives :D

Because it doesn't stop GTK3 from having a horrible UI and doesn't fix the fact GTK2 applications don't work on high PPI screens. Maybe in 10 years Linux will be able to do high PPI flawlessly.
At least the newest Gnome has trackpad gestures!

This. It just feels "off" to imitate Windows or OS X in Linux. Nothing wrong with just taking elements of their look and feel (flat design, angular UI, fonts you like, whatever) and incorporating them into how you theme your OS, but attempting to imitate the operating systems' looks in their entirety just doesn't feel quite right.

wow that's fucking eyecancer inducing

Because GNOME sucks giant horse COCKS, and they messed up the design of almost all their software. The stupid combined titlebar/menubar thing is just too messed up and retarded for me to use. I left gnome for XFCE when gnome 3 first came out and haven't looked back since.
