decent (cheap) monitors for console gaming?
i'm getting sick of using my standard-def beamer for playing games. i don't really want to have a big tv taking up space in my room, so i figured a nice monitor could be a good option. what do you guys recommend?
i could probably spend a few hundred euro - keep in mind, i'm not really a graphics freak. as i said, i'm still currently playing everything in sd.
another bump...

Not sure about specifics but you want something
>60Hz
>1920x1080
>IPS
>Large screen size for 1080p, like 27" since console
>Any built in speaker no matter how shitty
Plug in your own speakers or headphones via its 3.5mm slot. If you don't make sure they have a jack you will have no sound because HDMI

thanks for the info.
how come i'd want a inbuilt speaker? currently i run sound through my stereo, and i guess i'd like to continue doing that.
sound also goes over the HDMI cable right? so then ami right in thinking the monitor needs to have an audio out port so i can take the sound back to my stereo?

Your games are 720p,they wont be looking better at FULLHD screen.

That's exactly what he said lol. The ones with built in speakers will generally have an audio out.
Unless you hook your stereo directly to your console, which I'm not even sure they can do?
Now that I'm thinking about it. If you're using a console and stereo system, why not just get a TV? The audio connections for your stereo system will be better than just a 3.5mm audio jack afterthought on a PC monitor.

Yes. At very least you need audio out, which is almost always in the form of. 3.5mm. You may need a splitter for the 3.5mm jack so it can turn into L and R

ah yeah. that;s what i thought. just wasn't sure if he meant i need the built in speaker for some other reason too.
as for not getting the tv. i just don't want something taking up a lot of room. i have a pretty small room in a shared flat and don't really want a massive set-up.
