I am going to be doing a RAID 0 set up on my computer and wanted a raid controller that is better than ones built into the motherboard but still isn't too expensive.

I found this one for a good price : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816150041

It has a Marvell 88SE9230 chipset but no on board memory. From my other standing it isn't a true hardware raid because of that but I was wondering if it was still good enough?

If not this raid card then do you have any other recommendations?

Don't buy new, raid cards don't die easily. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LSI-Internal-SATA-SAS-PCI-e-RAID-Controller-Card-SAS9211-8i-8-PORT-HBA-/111825536793?hash=item1a09524719:g:YhoAAOSwrklVEHVu

An old but also VASTLY better card than the one you found, 300$ off.

Fuck Marvell. I would personally use an old 3ware or Areca card over Marvell any day.

RAID0 as your O/S is the greatest joy, ever.

So long as you have a RAID1 (or better) as a data array, you're gold.

Does that support uefi?

How is this card?

Is it any better than that HBA one since it has a cache?

You haven't lived until you've put an entire Linux server on RAID10 SATA III SSDs. Holy shitting fuck.

What the fuck how much storage do you have 500gb would be 600 bucks out Something

You get to play with the really fun toys working for a company with real space in a datacenter. My favorite config was 4x1TB Intel SSDs and a nice LSI or Adaptec card or mdadm RAID10.

>there are people who don't understand that any inherent risk of RAID 0 can be mitigated entirely with a decent backup solution

go sperg somewhere else.

Anyone? Should I get this one? How do I know if it will work with uefi?

As a rule of thumb, any raid card under $300 is shit, ie. motherboard-integrated raid controller level of shit.
