I have to use a retina macbook at work and hate that fucking scaling shit. Holy fuck, the max scaling is 1920x1200 which I had in 2008. Plus OS X wastes a ridiculous amount of space with the stupid fucking dock and top bar and maximize never works.

Plus the scaling software is buggy as fuck going from external monitors and back, constantly causing problems. Honestly you'd be 2 times better off with a 1200p screen screen, but at the time you had to choose between blurry 1280x800 and glitchy as fuck retina.

Is it kinda funny to see idiots using the default scaling. Like they paid $1000 just to use "retina display" with 2x pixel density just to have their images blown up 2x defeating the entire purpose. You literally pay $1000+ just so you icons looks slightly better. It would be funny if I wasn't forced to use it everyday.

You can't pick the resolution. The highest scaled resolution is 1920x1200 equivalent. Which means all images are downscaled at an uneven ratio. Even at the highest scaled resolution the retina display will look worse than a native 1920x1200 display, except for OS icons. Even if you hack it at full resolution the OS is tiny as fuck because it wasn't designed with that in mind.
