That's how the roms for this phone have always worked. The CM 12.1 builds were UNOFFICIAL at first, but they became official.

So basically, you have a dev who maintains the stability of the rom, and another dev who builds the newer version. Then when the time comes, the first dev starts working on the new ROM and makes it stable.

I hope I'm making sense.

Since this is an android thread I'll ask here

I just installed an android 5.1 rom on my phone, and it won't read the emulated sdcard storage (or whatever you call it, internal storage), my files are in the wrong location.

Anyone know a way of fixing this, that is not moving the files around? I tried to do a symlink in terminal emulator, but apparently it's not implemented.
