Will bench Fo4 the best I can with a Fury X @ 2k/ max settings, shortly
>>
So far, perfect 60fps with Vsync on. Not a single drop, inside or outside, in Goodneighbor.
Before the update, the area would have drops as low as 40fps at the same settings. I need to turn off Vsync and test
>>
Massive improvements in the overworld. No significant drops, yet, even with multiple enemies. Occasionally drops to 58 or 59 fps, but I usually chalk that up to FRAPS misreading, or some sort of Vsync error, since that happens in even the least intensive games with Vsync on.

Have to go through a couple .ini edits to turn off Vsync. If thread is alive, I'll report back after an hour or so of testing.

Are you blind or did you not look past the 8350? It's a massive jump from 1333Mhz to 2400Mhz. More and more games that are CPU bound are hitting a memory bottleneck now it seems.

Incidentally, that guy said they had to test with vsync on because AMD's drivers wouldn't let them force it off.... But Fallout.ini has an option for turning off vsync.
>>
>intel macfags still eating shit
>>
OP, here.

Had some issue with disabling Vsync. Missed a file somewhere, probably.

Curious issue, though. Went down to 30fps, and stuck perfectly still at that rate when the sun was setting, for about 15 seconds.

They say this is when "God rays" are used most, but odd that it hit 30, and just stayed there constant like that. Then, it went right back to 60fps, as if nothing happened.

Other than that, no drops, except a savequit, when I aggroed every person in diamond city at once. Dropped to mid 40's, with that
>>
>>51383226
Must be nice to know that you can select the level of tessellation on your AMD card, while Nvidia users have no option but the strength of the game's global illumination (god rays)

It's funny, to me at least, because steam survey shows that the majority of Nvidia users are on old hardware/hardware on the level of middle-or-just-below-tier, and thus suffer considerably more than a smart AMD user who simply sets their tess to 8/16x

Good thing even a GTX 670 has more tessellation power than a Fury X.
>>
>>51384322
>tessmark

Please, you only make yourself look like a shill

I'm sure people running Nvidia would love to turn down the over tessellated godrays in F4. Does nothing but kill performance for minimal impact on picture quality.
>>
>>51384322
Forced 64x tessellation versus selected 16x offers almost no visual difference while needing 4 times the computation power to achieve.

Aside from the fact that FO4's "god rays" (which before the goyworks package have always meant shadow based light shafts, not tessellated-to-the-subpixel illumination) set on high or low looks almost entirely the same,

A 670 would choke in this scenario compared to even a 7850.
I said in another thread, that this global illumination processing was meant for and solely for Maxwell, and Nvidia is as usual pushing their strategy of stupid people purchasing the newer card through unnecessary, practically unnoticeably levels of effects.

You can find on forums all over people requesting Nvidia include a tessellation level selection, and promptly being ignored.
Says a lot, really.

yes, all DDR3 ram over 1600 is OC.

>wouldn't go out of their way to release a special driver
How fucking new are you? Every AAA release gets driver releases on both sides. Btw, Nvidia released fallout 4 "game ready" drivers, that a couple sites claimed had a 20% performance increase.

What's it tell you, when a game is made using your own libraries, and you still have to "optimize" it that much with post drivers? Not to mention, having access to the gw source code gave them a huge leg up for day 1 benchmarks that the fuckboys ate up

Poor AMD workers had their work cut out for them to unfuck this mess.
>>
>>51384649
Typically for every 266 (33 Mhz actual clock, 66Mhz "IO" speed) over the rated spec you need +1+1+1+3 timing and another .075

So to run a 9CAS 1600Mhz module at 2133 you'd need to tune it at 11/11/11/30 and 1.65volts, and you'd be incredibly lucky to get it to 2400 (300Mhz real) and 12-12-12-33 without issue.

Just buy 2133 11 CAS ram if that's the speed you want and save yourself the hassle.
>>
>>51384720

How is that a lie? I can't remember the last high caliber AAA title AMD didn't release drivers for, especially a Gameworks title (beta drivers, but drivers, nonetheless)

And yeah, of course Nvidia is better in (most) GW titles, but, objectively, AMD outperforms them at every price point, otherwise. Save, perhaps Fury X vs 980ti

That's not quite accurate.
Timing are a fraction of the clock, so to OC 1600 CL9 to 2133 you need to increase timings at least by 33% to CL12, or you would have been able to run it at 1600 CL8 in the first place.
Generally, you need to loosen timings even more than that if you boost the clocks too high to make it run stable.

all 390s are factory OCed, they're always dishonestly compared to reference 970s. any factory OC 970 blows away the 390 and trades blows with the 390x.

It's shameful.

Do the drivers still fuck over Battlefield 4 if it's running on Mantle, or did they fix that?
I couldn't use the last driver suite because it made BF4 randomly CTD.

To get huge performance boost:
Go to:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
open "Fallout4.ini"
set godrays to zero (off)
bNvGodraysEnable=0

Save file, rightclick file>properties>set to read only (otherwise the game resets these changes)

Then go to:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
open "Fallout4prefs.ini"
make sure these settings are like so:
bVolumetricLightingForceCasters=0
bVolumetricLightingEnable=0
fTessFactorMaxDistanceScale=0
sAntiAliasing=0 optional, but might save you lots of fps
iPresentInterval=0
bEnableRainOcclusion=0
bDoDepthOfField=0
bScreenSpaceBokeh=0
bMBEnable=0
bLensFlare=0
bScreenSpaceSubsurfaceScattering=0
bScreenSpaceReflections=0

Save file, rightclick file>properties>set to read only (otherwise the game resets these changes)
>>
>>51389812
Or you could do all of those changes in the fucking launcher.
Set graphics to low, then go advanced and set everything to what you want.

For example if you turn off godrays in the launcher you will notice that it keeps resetting itself to 'low'.
>>

>>
>>51387404
With overvolting you can reduce the latency penalty, which I included in my numbers.

I know that it isn't really a hard-and-fast rule, but it generally applies. My CL9 1600 can hit 10-10-10-30 at 1866 with 1.6v from 1.5, although the IMC on my old Westmere chip cannot function beyond ~3950Mhz so I can't test above 1920 ram speed.

Takes 10-11-11-35 N2 at 1.7v to be 1920 stable, by the way.

Intel still has stronger core performance than that abortion that is the Piledriver architecture. Fuck, even a Skylake i3-6100 will demolish an FX-8370 in single-threaded programs and an i5-6500 will offer similar, if not better multithreaded performance on a newer platform with the latest features. AM3+ hasn't seen any major updates apart from two MSI boards offering USB 3.1 and an ASRock board with M.2 (PCIE2x2, not PCIE3x4 like Skylake).

Zen will only close the gap, but that's still a year away and on a completely different socket.

Alright, lemme rephrase.
>SLI doesn't cause constant CTD's like Crossfire does
It works, it just doesn't really provide any serious benefit.
>>
>>51394585
Because the only two things that are CPU intensive and can't be done satisfactorily on a 1999-era CPU or microwave-tier NUC/logic board are:
>games
>3D rendering
>production-level linear computing (such as database parsing)
And guess what? All 3 of those are Intel's bread and butter. AMD is terrible at all of them.

So if you wanna be able to use your computer for literally anything other than web browsing and typing code in whichever notepad-replacer you feel like using, you're better off with an Intel.
>>
>>51396904
I tried the same shit with crossfire bro, no CTD. Just the usual poor scaling and lighting bugs when you have no profile.
>>
>>51396962

if it wasn't for gamers we wouldn't even have intel and amd investing time in trying to release performance parts for the general consumer.

the p4 and windows xp age brought good enough performance and os for your average next door neighbor.

the core 2 generation along with 7 was the icing on the cake.

whats been driving intel has been the xeon market and the gaming market. if the gamers didn't exist they wouldn't give two shits about the consumer market. all they would release and $700 i3's and atoms.

performance would only be focused on $1,000+ xeons.

same thing with the gpu arena.

so as much as you like shitting on gamers you should thank them because it wasn't for them you wouldn't have that fancy $300 i7 for all your shittastic virtual machines. instead you be sitting there forced to spend $2,000 for a decent quad core with no HT xeon or face that $500 dual core atom.
