I run Lubuntu, and I want to emulate the look of a red or green monochrome display. Mostly because red is easier to the eyes at night.
And not on just the terminal, the entire thing.
Is there a way to do this?
step 1: use VGA
step 2: break off pins until screen turns red

Hilariously enough, this is actually probably the easiest suggestion.
Flux or redshift

Alternatively just use xgamma.

will breaking pins 13 and 14 actually affect anything?

How do you figure that?
R,G,B,H,V are the bare minimum number of wires for VGA, though you might want to keep the rest connected anyway (well, ground is also required), you probably want EDID as well for automatic resolution detection, which is another wire
in this case the "video out" can go to the display's red or green wire, depending on what you're after
or just software gamma controls, whatever

the link might help, huh

Just use redshift

...or just change the settings on your monitor.

Just tried inverting them, this actually looks like it would be pretty comfy. Would take more than just changing the settings on your monitor or breaking off pins though.
