Installed Fedora on my laptop almost a week ago, it feels slower than debloated w7(possible placebo) and battery life isn't as good as before.
Used to get 10 hours on windows, now I only get 6.
My laptop is the vpcsa28gg, and I'm running xfce.

Is there a laptop friendly linux that can offer battery life as good as windows, if not better?
If not I might just go back to windows, I do enjoy the multiple workspaces of xfce though.

install powertop or TLP and configure them properly

install linux from scratch

I installed Xubuntu on my x230. After installing TLP the battery life went from 6 to 9hrs.
In windows 10 I get around 6

i have a x200t, even being incredibly outdated it had a battery life of 5 hours, i installed crunchbang and my battery died a few months later. i barely get an hour nowadays. imo linux's battery management is awful and linux was never meant for laptops.

I noticed this too, 6 hours isn't too bad for a laptop, but coming from 10 hours it's pretty horrible.
I'm debating going back to windows, but first i'll have a look at >>50764614 and >>50765440
would xubuntu be more battery friendly than fedora?
I'd have thought linux would be more battery friendly since it's supposed to be more efficient and use less resources...

Xubuntu is real nice on the battery life. I used it in my MBA and I got like 8 hours, where with os x I got around 5. I get like 5 on my garbage old HP, but that one got 5 with Windows anyway

That's your fucking problem. Red Hat is for bizfags who pay for support contracts. Use a debian based distro from people who protect your freedoms.

What do you suggest? xubuntu?

If you're new to linux, just go with Ubuntu based stuff.
I'm with ubuntu for 10 years and no such shit happened to me.
>Don't like Unity?
Good, me neither.
I'm with xfce4 when I want it to Just Werks (TM), Openbox when I want to rice and i3 to get shit done.
