I have really been swayed by all the people posting ultrawides on these threads. I remember thinking them silly, and have for years. But now I'm seriously considering getting them for my own desktop. Also the constant pictures of bookshelf speakers really gets me interested but how do they work? Where do they connect? What kind of DAC/AMP do I need? Where's the sub? They look cooler than the average PC speaker, though.

Led strips with sticky backs.

Look up "SUPERNIGHT LED strips" on amazon and get the length you want with a color remote. The Adhesive doesn't work too well on wood and it doesn't like being moved around, so make sure where you stick it the first time, is the place you want to keep it for a long time. If you want to move it in the future you might need to keep it up with tape cause the adhesive becomes weak once you peel it off a surface.

If you're just looking to get into mechanical keyboards on a low budget, I would have recommended the cherry MX Board.

Though given your budget, I'd recommend you check out the mechanical keyboard general, they have lots of information on this stuff, and you can get specific advice there too.

Where the fuck do y'all get desks?

Mine is too tall - I like being lower to the ground. But after going to the two furniture places and salvation army store in my city, I can't find anything close to the height I want (like 20-25'').
I found the Ikea Galant goes down to 23'' but shipping on it is like $100.

Then I thought I'd "make" one by just putting a table top on two drawers or something, but I can't even find drawers the right size that aren't over $100 each. I seriously looked around for stuff to make this work, and I couldn't find shit. How can such a simple idea be so hard to actually do?

With cameras.

You can do pretty well on some smartphone cameras too though. Some let you adjust ISO and exposure. Take multiple shots and stack them in Photoshop to remove the noise and bracket a HDR by taking multiple shots with different exposures using exposure compensation. Only hard thing is to keep the smartphone somewhat steady during all of that.

Also, GTA V is fucking fun.
