If you have access to private trackers, you have a moral duty to reupload to public trackers.

By putting up with byzantine rules and regulations to share content with others, you martyr yourself for the good of mankind.

Fight copyright.

You wouldn't get any upload credited for a torrent that's not currently active on the site

The torrent already exists. I upload a duplicate torrent with the same exact files and the seedboxfags instantly snatch it up. I then remove the torrent from AB, but keep the file loaded in my torrent client. I don't get the upload credit, but I do get upload from seeding

Yeah. I'm running through the CDs in my parents home, got some perfect FLACs out of it, some duds. Still have some to go.

I don't think this is the kind of music the average WCD user from my country would like to download
>>
>>47543882
You must have a shit connection or your client isn't set up properly. Your downloads keep stopping at less than 10% for me. This might be part of why you can't get much upload.
>>
>>47543831
It's been proven again and again that anons are shit private tracker users.

Even if a couple of us aren't assholes, it's not really worth wasting an invite/risking getting banned for an anon.
>>
>>47543918
I have 5 Mbps upload bandwidth. I think all of it was being used. I've freed some bandwidth so that you can download.

>This might be part of why you can't get much upload.

Well, I leave all my torrents seeding so the decision of which specific one to seed gets left up to my client. Not sure if there's a better way. I wish I had more bandwidth but I don't.
>>
>>47543957
I have 256 kbps upload bandwidth... (I mean kilobits, not kilobytes... AKA 32 KB/s, take overhead)
>>
>>47543957
you can set specific torrents to high priority in any decent torrent client. also,
>go to bandcamp
>download some random free ambient album as FLAC, 320, V0, and V2
>or if you want to save bandwidth just get FLAC and encode the mp3s yourself
>upload to what
>profit
make sure its ambient, for some reason I always get at least 10 snatches even if its the dumbest shit like https://cloudbeat1.bandcamp.com/album/my-little-toaster
I'm thinking a script to do this automatically would be easy to write but idk if it's against the rules.

What are some other good private trackers with a ratio model like BTN?

I seed 24/7 but hardly get any credit due to my terrible upload speeds.
>>
>>47544023
>Someone here mentioned that there are scripts running that automatically harvest bandcamp and upload to WCD.
if there are they aren't very quick and certainly aren't exhaustive. See for yourself, just check out the newest ambient albums and test which are on what: https://bandcamp.com/tag/ambient?sort_field=date
I've checked the first few and they're not there
>>
>>47544088
>with a ratio model like BTN
AKA not having one?
There aren't any. BTN only has it's model because most torrents are removed so soon after they're uploaded, and having any other model would make it impossible for them to operate
>>
>>47544012
Depends on the trackers you use as well.

For example, if you only used TSH, GFT, BTN, MTTV, it's probably unnecessary to have a seedbox... unless, of course, you're contributing and have a low upload speed. With a seedbox you'd be able to upload it to the seedbox, then just seed from there so the download is faster for everyone else.

If you use trackers with a ratio-based system like most of us, it depends on your upload speed. If it's a slow upload link, perhaps... < 25 mbps, it's probably worth it. If not, then it's up to you - there could still be a reason you want a dedicated box with it's own link (e.g. so you can fully utilize your home link's upload for streaming/uploading videos, etc.)
>>
>>47544096
Yeah, they're certainly being ignored. I'll keep that in mind. I think I'll start uploading these once I'm through with my discs. There's some albums I actually like and it looks like I can trump some torrents with a 100% FLAC.

How would I go about doing that? I just upload a "dupe" then report the old torrent with trumping as the reason?
>>
>>47544147
Yep, pretty much.
>>
>>47544147
it helps to include the link to your 100% torrent when you report the older one
>>
>>47544088
TSH is a general/0day tracker that is ratioless.

GFT is also a ratioless 0day (scene) tracker. It does have some P2P content, but not a lot.

MTTV is a TV tracker very similar to BTN (except newer and not as good). It's ratioless as well... if you're on BTN, I wouldn't bother with it though.
>>
>>47543831
The only way to risk your account is by breaking anonymity, which you shouldn't do on 4chan anyway.

>>47544012
I have a small one to mostly keep shit seeding 24/7 and don't ever worry about ratio. My PC is on my bedroom and i dislike to have it running at night.

>If it's a slow upload link, perhaps... < 25 mbps, it's probably worth it.
I got massive ratio on PTP, GGn, What, and SCC with an upload link far less than that. All you have to do is seed everything you ever download, forever. Get enough of a seed library and you'll always have a little buffer trickling in, which adds up.

>>47544012
I've had no issues with ratio, but I still got a seedbox a couple months ago. The main reason I got it was to easily fill requests for my friends (they all have their own FTP account on the server); in return, they chip in on the cost, so I get to have a seedbox for $7.50 a month. I also like having an extra layer protection when torrenting.

It's nice for other stuff though. I use it as a VPN which comes in handy often. I can also use it as a cloud service, a webserver, a media streaming service. I'll be going to a dedicated box soon which should be fun since then I'll get to toy around with running a Linux server.

The box also makes it a lot easier to stay under my data cap. In the past I've blown straight through it twice over thanks to busy torrents. Now all my data usage just comes from downloading. And it does do nice things for ratio. For example, today GTAV appeared on GGn. Normally I would have held off on it since it wasn't a scene release and it's 60 fucking gigs, but since I could just choose to not download it from the server and it was freeleech I figured why not. A couple hours later and I've already uploaded 133GB on that torrent, which thanks to the freeleech is 133GB of pure buffer, all made in just a couple hours off a single torrent.
>>
>>47544513
>I got massive ratio on PTP, GGn, What, and SCC with an upload link far less than that.

iptorrent gets hate because the owner is accused of DDOSing other trackers by the hivemind reddit crowd whose subreddit is staffed by a PTP staff member 312c. No one other than that small reddit circlejerk believes this or cares about private tracker drama.

>>

>Why do you care if people join a tracker just to get invites?

Because there's these people known as collectors. Such people are the lowest form of scum because they are people whose only goal is to have an account on every tracker and do the very minimum (logging in every 3 months) to keep their account. They barely seed. They barely download. They don't do anything for the community and they take up a slot that would be better filled by somebody who will actually seed/download.

The reason we keep things a secret is so that those people never find out how to get on other trackers and take up the slots that people want.

Might be faster to post here rather than on the forum:

I'm trying to upload an artist to WCD, but I just realized that the release dates they gave to their albums are bogus (1904-1909)
