Telegram or Tox
There isn't one.

Facetime ;^)

I don't know, but I doubt your normie friends will get out of their comfort zone.

A raidcall would be pretty easybto use and setup.
If your friends are fags music mode will be a complete pain in the ass.

I've heard some negative things about the developer(s) of Tox and the program's future.
Forgot about Telegram though. I'll have to check that out again.

Gonna try that as well, never heard of it before.
Thanks for the helpful responses.
Firefox Hello :^)
What I require in a skype alternative:
I want it to replace my phone. I need a number that can call to and be called from any kind of phone, cell, land line, other skype. I need to be able to sms text AND RECEIVE texts you fucking microsoft INGRATES. How hard is that to implement?
I know what it is, it's backroom deals between microsoft and cell phone companies to thwart people from circumventing having a cell phone. Everyone has to have one, and microsoft bought skype not to develop it but to sit on it, and suppress any alternative. I get a little worked up about this, cause like.. what the fuck? I keep waiting for the real skype killer to show up but it doesn't.

>skype
my normie friends haven't used it in years, it's all about whatsapp unless you live in the US of cucks or in southeast asia or japan

Yeah, google hangouts is pretty good. It feels more stable than Skype.
MegaChat

I've looked at it.. I'm not thrilled about having to have chrome running all the time. A desktop application would be ideal. I might make the switch though.. I've been moving away from google as much as possible but I might have to move back to google for this.

I'd have a hard time convincing anyone to use something that only runs through their browser.

Not a huge fan of botnets and guvmint surveillance. Mainly looking for a desktop app anyway, and my first choice for mobile is Threema, although it's closed source so I'm not sure.
Are Telegram/RaidCall any good in terms of privacy?
Tox.
>>47327681
Goober.Its more secure.
I don't have any friends outside of steam so I don't have a skype, I would use tox if someone asked me to though...
Mumble, that's what cia operatives use

Hangouts has an app. I think it technically runs a browser in the background or some shit like that, but it looks like an app.

If you want a compromise between "muh privacy" and "it's just like Skype" look no further than Telegram.
