I did both. The 295x2 decimates the Titan X and the 390x and 395x2 will rape the Titan X and the 1000 series looks to be coming out in Late 2016 so instead if taking 18 months like AMD and Nvidia normally take it will be 24 months from the 900 series release. Normally AMD release their cards 6 months after Nvidia which is smart as it means they are 6 months ahead in tech for a year but because of the 1000 series forecasted delays it looks like the 300 series will be released soon and the 400 released around the same time as the 1000.

This will be significant as the 900 series performs worse than the currently 18 month old 200 series and the leaks for the 980TI show it to perform worse than the Titan X.

So the 300 series will rule as undisputed king with early experience from HBM for 18 months and by the time the 1000 series is released they would have been stuck with cards that perform as well as 3 year old cards whilst AMD users will have been using watercooled 8GB HBM 395x2 and AMD will likely have a big advantage in both CPU and GPU having this experience with HBM as they seem to be taking it much more seriously with both Zen and the 300 series.

I can't wait for how significantly the DX12 update effects things. All tests so far show what we already know that Nvidia sell expensive shit with out of the door good software optimization but AMD has been at times lacking. But with DX12 that is no longer a issue and many tests have shown that a 290x and a Titan X perform about equally with DX12 and DX12 being based of of Mantel is designed to optimize AMD CPU's so that will also help them.

no they wanted a 4gb card to compete with the 290 and 290X both of which have proper 4gb of VRAM that isn't fucked up so the kept a 512mb partition on chip that was completely fucked and advertized the card as 4gb

because of this "feature" whenever you get close to the 3.5gb usage limit it forced access of the .5 partition which is 1/8th the speed of the rest of the VRAM and both partitions cannot be accessed simultaneously so while your operating the .5 partition everything else stops and your operating at hideously slow speed until that task is finished and it goes back to using the 3.5gb partition

this causes horrible game breaking errors and stuttering/freezing like you wouldn't fucking believe
if they removed the .5gb section and just advertised it as a 3.5gb card this would never have happened

if you bought a gtx 970 then Nvidia fucked you harder than any consumer since their old fermi "housefire" cards

and if you got fucked over buy the 970 and then turned around to buy a 980 than you are an even bigger cuckold than a guy who lets niggers inseminate his wife daily

And what happens at 3.5 is not much different from what happens when a 290x reaches 4.0 : FPS drop sharply, because swapping needs to happen. Or what do people expect to happen when they drive a card beyond its RAM limit? Graceful decline? Ha.
