I spent $1500 on a Precision with a QuadroK1000M for CAD shit without having to be cooped up at home all day, but it absolutely sucked in performance compared to my $800 desktop.

You know, using a Mac isn't a matter of being 'too dumb' for Windows or Linux. It's a matter of being smart enough to want Linux over Windows, and then being smart enough to realize that time it's money, and Linux is only free if your time is worthless.

And what do you mean by 'performance'? Specs aren't everything. I judge the performance of a computer partly by ease of use, accessibility, efficiency of the user experience, and amount of maintenance. Macs are great at being low-maintenance and actually functioning. Ubuntu... Not necessarily, in my experience.

And, for what it's worth, I didn't pay hundreds of dollars more for an ugly logo. I paid hundreds of dollars more for a compact design, an attractive, durable chassis, a Unix-like OS with actual commercial support, and excellent warranty support.

Because it's Unix, it has an actual window management philosophy unlike Windows, and it's more fleshed out than any Linux DE that hasn't been meticulously riced for weeks on end. It's a fully featured OS with hundreds of billions of dollars backing it designed to be used effortlessly by bother powerusers and retards alike.

People can meticulously manage files and workspaces and windows to their liking or they can leave everything open all day and search for every file in the All My Files view and switch between apps effortlessly with expose and mission control. Both approaches work flawlessly and efficiently. OS X feels better because it's the only real commercial OS. Windows has for over decade stayed afloat only because of it's reputation by poor people and manchildren on /g/ alike as the "working man's" "technical" operating system.
