Yeah, nautilus handles it weird so I'd have to directly edit config files or mess with gconf or something

This is very nice, do you mind posting the 4chan css? I won't post it here and/or claim it as my own.

>I won't post it here and/or claim it as my own.
It's not hard to make it yourself.
Install Onee-chan.
Here, I'll even give you the shadow:
.reply {box-shadow: 0px 2px 2px rgba(0,0,0,.08);}

You don't need to.
I told you what to do to make the 4chin css.

Why wouldn't you just post it?
But I guess being edgy and elitist is more important than being a nice person.

I know, I mean the css. I've never used oneechan, so maybe it works differently than what I'm thinking about.
>>
>>47037555
>Those trips
It's probably because you would need to install onee-chan to import the theme in the first place. I'm not being edgy or elitist and told you how to make it (in an easy way too) but it seems you want to be 100% spoonfed.
>>

>>
>>47037583
It's probably easier than you think.

Pic related is how to make a theme w/Onee Chan and for some faggots want to be 100% spoonfed you can have it this one time. And you're going to have to put in the minimal amount of effort to copy it because I'm not exporting it and uploading it.

How hard do you lot think it would be to put together a panel? Something along the lines of tint2, just a bit more flexible. I'm thinking integrated command line for launching stuff (autocompletes, drops all launched processes to init, redirects output to stay cleared, etc), dropdown submenus, custom setup per screen on multiple screen desktops and maaaybe a global menu.. Since nobody really likes menus on windows with no titlebar anyway.. Thoughts?

This is so cool, I'm brand new to /g/ and want to install this over my win 8 on my current laptop. Is this possible or did you make this? Is there a guide?
>>
I am starting CS in a few months and am wondering if I can get by on my toaster of a laptop or if I should spend money on a new one. I'd rather not but I might just for the portability alone. Fuck performance, this thing will be tiring carrying around a campus all day.
>>
>>47038897
invest in an x61 notebook!
>>
>>47038931
If I get anything, it is going to be the best over-all combo of lightweight, functionality (more than one god damn USB C port), and performance. I do not game on the go and have a more than capable desktop for that, I will just want something that will "just werk" and not have an Apple logo and a $500 markup.
>>
>>47038779
Not that guy, but here are some guesstimates:
That rice was probably made by the poster.
There probably is no ready-made guide for you to follow.
Getting a look like that is possible, though it may take a lot of time and effort if that anon doesn't share his configs and/or distro/wm.
>>47038897
If its a lightweight laptop you seek, the acer c720p chromebook has been quite good for me. Granted, it doesn't have that much power, but it is lightweight (3 lbs) and has quite good battery life. Works okay for shitposting and studying/coding. Arch has full installation guide in the wiki, and even antergos installs easily. The ssd and battery aren't soldered on, and changing them is fairly easy. Best 150$ I ever spent.

>Best 150$ I ever spent.
Damn, that's cheap. Hopefully that means I can get something as portable with even more power and functionality with a $400 budget. I am waiting until right before I need it, though, so no need to go through effort and help me pick one just yet, though I appreciate the thought. I am hoping by then there will be even better price/performance options out. I would think this would be the case as it usually is with technology, but look at what happened to ram and hard drives just recently.

>being this new

In case this isn't bait:

Learn how to properly backup your system and double boot linux on your laptop. You'll probably want to start with Ubuntu because it is a breeze to install. Once you learn more you can install other distros that require more know-how.

Then learn how to use the terminal (google command line) and how to install programs on your linux machine.

Once you wander sufficiently down this rabbit hole, you'll be ricing in no time. The ricing on here generally involves installing a window manager (tiling or not) and modifying a bunch of configuration files.
