IPS vs TN

Anyone know when a 1080p 24'' IPS monitor with gsync 120/144hz will be out on the market?

My current monitor is dying and i can only find overly expensive TN monitors. And of course the only IPS monitor with gsync they release is 1440p.
>>
Don't buy gsync until freesync comes out.

At the moment gsync is the only adaptive refresh rate on the market, so they command a massive price premium for them. Not to mention that gsync will never be cheaper than freesync purely because nvidia has a $200 DRM module in the monitor that you pay for.

Adaptive refresh rate is extremely young.
>>
I was originally going for TN, but after reading horror stories about it on the internet, im really hesitant to spend 600€+ on a monitor with colors and image quality i wont like.
>>
>>46848874
Is there really that much of a difference between triple-buffering and using gsync? I'm happy with all my games forcing tiple buffering with D3DO.

>>46848889
I'm using a panasonic plasma for games, everyone will tell you TVs are bad but I don't give a shit. it looks better than any IPS panel and the motion resolution is pure porn.
>>
>>46848922
>pure porn

pure eyeporn
>>
>>46848874
Its a really bad time to be in when it comes to monitor technology. One way or another i feel like im wasting my money or precious time waiting for a decent one to come out.
>>
I need something with good blacks but the only VA panel I see is that forts or whatever at 24" 1080. Is there anything bigger.

How bad is it to get a 35-40 inch plasma tv? I'd still be stuck at 1080.
>>
>>46849225
And you'd still be stuck at either 60Hz or 120Hz inputs. Most likely 60Hz. Not to mention the last good plasma line (Samsung PNF8500) sold out a while back, and plasma is no longer produced.

If you need high contrast at 24", there's this:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/eizo_fg2421.htm

It's well reviewed and uses a VA panel and has a high refresh rate.
>>
So when can we realisticly expect a 1080p IPS gsync monitor to come out if theres already a 1440p IPS monitor on the market?

How long does it take for them to make a monitor?
>>
1440p+, Freesync, IPS/VA or Quantum dot (forget OLED it has too many issues), 144Hz, 27+" or bust.
>>
>>46848848
IPS unless you are a gaymer that plays shit games.
>>
>>46850098
My problem is that IPS 1080p dont exist yet. The only IPS monitor with gsync is 1440p. When can we expect one to be released if it havent been announced yet? It cant be that hard to make one.
>>
>>46850076
>1440p+ at 27''
are you a faggot? at this panel size 4k is a must
>>
>>46848848

>And of course the only IPS monitor with gsync they release is 1440p

And you don't want 1440p because?????
>>
>>46850179
Because i have a single 970. 1440p will tank my fps and defeat the purpose of 144hz
>>
>>46850179
not him, but if you exclusively watch 1080p media (doubtful), then it's better to watch it at native resolution than it is to upscale it when you go fullscreen
>>
There already is a 24" 144Hz g sync monitor out. It's an acer or Asus I can't rememeber though. There's also a 27" and 28" but I think they are 1440p and 4k.

I'm...I'm sorry anon
>>
>>46850204
Just because you have 1440p does not mean you have to run it at that res when gaming.
>>
>>46850239
the only 24'' 144hz gsync monitors out have TN panels. I've never owned a TN before and i've heard so many horror stories after reading about it on the internet. Im poor and i dont want to waste my money unless it will keep me satisfied for years.

My current monitor is 8 years old and its starting to die out. I dont know how much longer i can wait for an IPS monitor to come out.
>>
We're still in the early adoption/format war stage of G-sync/Freesync. Wait until the dust settles before you shell out a ton of money. You don't want to be like those people who own HD-DVD players.
>>
>>46850262
Im getting 300-400 fps in cs:go, 80-110 fps average in BF4 with all the settings on ultra.

The card is fine for 1080p, but not any higher.
>>
>>46849297
>plasma is no longer produced
there's really no reason to live anymore.

all the good tech has been phased out Q_Q
>>
>>46850204
>looking for a 500 dollar+ monitor
>cheaps out on the gpu
just buy a $100 24" and call it a day you cheapskate
>>
>>46850332

I get 50-60fps in CS:GO at 1440p with an AMD 5850 from 2009. I came very close to getting a 970 during the Christmas sales but had to spend the money to fix my car instead. I was pissed at the time but now I'm very glad I avoided that fiasco.

A card with gimped architecture isn't "fine" at any resolution.
>>
Okay /g/
I have a 780 with an i7 930 @ 4ghz.
Only do 1080p gaming. Want to upgrade to 1440p. Will I be able to handle it or should I just stay on 1080p?
>>
>>46850407
Don't get so down, dude. I know what'll make you happy! A 6-bit+FRC, 400:1 contrast 8K LCD monitor. Just think: four times 4K!
>>
>>46850468
Missing out on gsync hurts me inside. 500 euros for a monitor is more than i would like to spend, but its a part of my mentality to go big or go home.

970 is more than enough for 1080p.
>>
>>46850578
>missing out of proprietary shill shit which is nothing more than a gimmick at this point

seriously? freesync does the exact same thing without forcing manufacturers to overspend.
while at the same time you bought an overpriced shitty gpu with gimped vram...

why is there so much stupid on this site.
>>
>>46849297
That is the monitor I was looking at but I want 1440 at least. I'd be willing to wait for 4k to mature or even 5k. Also bigger than 34 inch. Maybe 27.
>>
>>46850567
b-b-but muh response time, muh pixel change rate, muh imput lag.. muh contrast... muh infinite viewing angles...

LCD will never come close to being as good as plasma. >:' (
>>
>>46850688
Step aside plasmafags. /CRT/ here.
>>
I wish there was a 27"+ IPS/VA monitor with 144hz g-sync and nvidia 3d vision out there

Gee, you sure are stupid. IPS is too slow for that, no matter how high you crank the frequency, the crystals won't shift faster.

Get pic related and a good enough graphics card to achieve stable 120fps. Gsync would be useless then anyway.
