Amazing graphical design. Genius invention of live tiles in the start menu. Updated icons to match the modern feel and look of the glorious Windows operating system. Innovative "Power Shell" command line that blows away anything Linux has to offer. I'm sorry to say this, but 2015 is the year of the Windows desktop. It's over, Linux. It's over.

So your argument is that as long as the OS is free, you are happy to have ads? Your initial post only mentioned the fact that ads existed, now it is something else after Ubuntu was pointed out.

Deal with it, dipshito, Windows is king.

Add drag&Drop to the list.
If Win8+ can't allow regular fucking programs to use Drag&Drop it's a shit OS that can't fucking work as intended.
>>
>>46796700
I'm sure it supports D&D, I don't know why it wouldn't.
>>
>>46794753
tiles inside a window, and not in full screen was the best decision design made by Microsoft
>>
>>46796739
It doesn't.
It sandboxes programs that doesn't have the same elevated privileges as Windows shell.
Thus portable programs and even regularly installed programs have trouble with it.
D&D between folders is a given, but it needs to work with all programs.
I had Win8, 8.1 and then 10 Preview, and all of them have the same problem.
Unless UAC if raped and turned off through regedit, you can't get Drag&Drop to work.
But then half the OS fucks up.
Win10 even fucks up the start menu since it's part of ModernUI or whatever they call it now. so not only "apps" but the fucking start menu is fucked as well.
>>
>>46796826
I haven't had any issues with D&D in 8.1
>>
>>46794753
I ran the developer preview in vmware for a while, and it wasn't bad. Friend of mine said it wied out his bluetooth drivers and he could not reinstall them. He had to wind back to windows 7. They'll probably have that crap worked out by now.

From my point of view, it looks like it runs pretty lean and it's solid. But I just don't trust microsoft any more. Too many bugs in the past that you can't fix yourself and have to wait for patches. Too many viruses and malware. They also need to make it more configurable. They also need to get the machine manufacturers to stop 'adding value' by installing shitty media players and other satanism that windows already does.

Apart from that, not bad. If I bought it on a new machines, I would still replace with my favourite linux distro.... Because I can.
>>
>>46796900
Download, portable Foobar on a computer, drag it to C:\Windows\ to your Win8 folder (Just to show that that folder is oh no, dangerous).
Try to open it.
...
...
Open as administrator, even though you already are logged in as such because it doesn't start otherwise.
Drag a song to playlist.
....
Nope.

UAC fucks up Win8 and newer.

Having to disable UAC to get drag and drop is not a solution to get it working, it's only avoiding the problem.
>>
>>46797331
The first thing I do after installing windows is disable UAC.
>>
>>46794753
>Apps
>Flat design
DROPPED
>>
>>46797359
Disable UAC through the control panel, sure, we all do that.
But to get win8+ working without it treating us like idiots, you need to inactivate it through regedit.
Thus eliminating a large chunk of the OS just because M$ wants to for no reason.
>>
>>46797429
Everything works for me and I haven't touched UAC through the registry, I am using the built-in admin account though.
>>
>>46797457
Post a WeBM then to show us that a program that have lower elevated privileges works with drag and drop while UAC isn't disabled.

I understand, but it's a situation a lot of people aren't going to run into. And you're backtracking hard, at first you said D&D doesn't work in win8+ when it clearly does, now you're saying it doesn't work under a specific situation, which you might be right about because I don't have access to a computer with win7 atm so I can't test it.

You can just copy the config folder. If you actually move around enough for this to matter then unpack foobar on a win7 and win8 computer and bring both. Or you could do what any sane person would do and put your music on a phone or buy a laptop.
