That said, a one-key-per-character system is useless for computers or even dedicated word processors, which is why word processors took off so fast. Input was done via a 47-key phonetic system through the '80s, and is now almost always done in Roman letters - if you don't remember the exact pronunciation of a word, you can also look it up via which of 200 or so standardized components it's made up of.
It's just making good-looking typewritten text that takes a lot, which honestly is also a problem in English that resulted in professional typewriters with separate keys for /tt/, /fi/, /ll/, and so on.
