The thing that puts me off private trackers is that they log your IP and you're not allowed to use a proxy to log in (what.cd). If you ever get caught a IP and an account is more of a smoking gun than just an IP like it is on public torrent sites. Plus if private sites get raided because they store everything about you you'll get fucked...

I don't see the point in these elitists private trackers. The base of their spirit is to share their passion for free with anyone, but almost no one can join their circlejerk club and they use the first reason they found to kick you out.

Also they don't protect you at all from NSA and other spying agencies, because to protect yourself from those agencies you need to hide your traffic with a VPN, not clarely connecting to a little unknown server.

Private trackers offer no more than public trackers except less seeders, hateful and useless communities, and require you to give your email address.

Public trackers > pirvate trackers.
>>

>I'm a pleb who got butthurt because I can't follow rules and got my ass kicked out.

>>
>>46691894

>>

VPNs banned from a lot of privfate trackers so you still have evidence of having an account on the tracker, and having downloaded the torrent file. Ofc you only download the file via vpn or seedbox but thats only half the equation
>>
>>46692316
I'm not butthurt at all for being suspended (though when I saw the message I was a bit angry).

The rules you mention are simply stupid, and that's why I don't go on private trackers anymore.
Why do they force their users to connect regularly ? To maintain their community ? Heck, not even 5% actually do something more than just leeching and seeding (when they can seed, which is almost impossible on a tracker fulfilled with seeders). It's just a stupid trick to keep their statistic good and masturbate when seeing them "hurr durr we're private tracker number one fuck yeah".

I always found what I searched on public trackers, so per experience I can tell you there is absolutely no advantage on private trackers.
>>
>>46692380
>when I saw the message I was a bit angry

Is 312c the most insufferable cunt in the tracker world? I seriously feel like taking a weekend and ruining his fucking life. He leaves so much info via reddit that it should be simple. I actively cheat on PTP to spite him, but it's boring as no one has caught me for over 3 years. What.CD were the only ones who banned me, and that was 2 years ago and i've been cheating at lower speeds since getting a new account and they've not clocked on.

>>

AFAIK they have outright stopped open recruitment. Its sort of a, need to dig around and find someone to ask, and have godlike stats, before you can get int.

Kind of dumb if you ask me. The site is amazing, but it's choking itself by being so difficult to get into. So many people just download their releases elsewhere, and then seed on hdbits.

>>
>>46694410
Uh basically just post on PtP and BtN and suck peoples dicks. It's easy, find well known members posts in the forums and reply to them agreeing with them. They will start getting familiar with your username. Then start going onto the IRC channels, say a few things every now and then, and slowly talk more and more in there. Eventually your nose will be so covered in their shit that they won't be able to distinguish the end of their ass from the start of your nose. Around then is when you get invited.
>>
>>46694636
>implying this is true.
>>
>>46694748
It seriously is. Don't believe me? Search up these hard to get into trackers on the forums, every single person who mentions being in one has a lot of posts, or is active on IRC. It happens on IRC all the time, stick around in a channel for a while, like 3 months talking to people in there, and eventually somebody will mention one of these trackers. Just say something like "I'll get in there one day, its like the el dorado of X" and you typically have someone PM you asking if you want an invite. This is how I got into Exigo and DB9.
>>
My UNI seems to be throttling connections via SFTP so I can't download files from my seedbox. Would it help to change the port or just use FTP instead or is there another alternative I can use? I've tried changing the port to 443 and there was a slight improvement but it wasn't huge. Thanks

Someone explain how bibliotiks ratio system works to me.

If I maintain 100 uploads, I dont have a required ratio. I get that, but as I understand this, I can still lose PU/Elite perks because of ratio?

That seems really fucking weird.
>>
>>46696064
>>If I maintain 100 uploads, I dont have a required ratio. I get that, but as I understand this, I can still lose PU/Elite perks because of ratio?

Yeah, those are 2 different factors. Your ratio won't affect your account from being completely disabled but you will be demoted to the lowest kind of userclass if your ratio drops below what is needed to maintain that userclass.

You will be able to use your account forever, but you will always be the lowest class if your ratio is 0.01, for example.

If you only maintain 99 uploads all of a sudden, you get locked from downloading, and if you don't fix your ratio, your account is disabled and you will have to beg the admins on IRC to get it back.
>>
>>46694970
It isn't complicated stuff.
>>
>>46690378

How useful is peerblock or other similar software in keeping out letter sending groups? Is it a complete placebo or are there benefits to continue using it?
>>
>>46696637
Complete placebo. Don't you think those groups know about those blocklists and are paid to keep up with them with dedicated staffers and specialized software?

If they can't successfully make reports to ISPs, they lose clients, so peerblock lists are always circumvented.
>>
>tfw always look for YIFY/ettv/eztv torrents first
>tfw never seed
>tfw use vlc

I have a question for you guys, what happens if someone uploads a torrent file from a private tracker to a public tracker website like kat or tpb?
>>
>>46691263
The best tracker with the best community was original Demonoid.

Your argument is flawed and retarded--it especially falls through when I've downloaded many pieces of shit from what.cd, which supposedly has the best quality, and that goes for all of the other circlejerk private trackers.
>>
>>46697328
The torrent file has a key associated with your account. That key is blacklisted, and your account is banned.

If they don't catch it (they will) all the people hit and running will get you disabled anyway unless the tracker doesn't have H&R or ratio rules.
>>
>>46691913
So they still allow shit quality rips to be uploaded, and have no real quality control outside of making lists of what the resolution is and what container it uses.

You've proven that pass the popcorn is worse than BakaBT, which is a public anime tracker. You've proven that private tracker users are lower than weebs.

>So they still allow shit quality rips to be uploaded, and have no real quality control outside of making lists of what the resolution is and what container it uses.

False. Each file is reviewed by someone to make sure it meets minimum encoding standards, and generally, an encoding log is required.

I don't like private trackers. They expect you to upload and maintain ratios.

I just want to come in and leech shit.

Uploading is how you get in trouble. I've got several terabytes of about ~2,600 movies and entire TV Shows in my XBMC (Oh, excuse me, "Kodi") setup, all downloaded from public trackers like Demonoid, PirateBay, Kickass. I rigged my torrent client to never share and only leech.

Not one angry ISP letter, ever.

If I went on a private tracker and started uploading to maintain ratios and shit, I bet within two weeks I'd get one of those angry ISP letters from HBO.

Leeching is the way to go.

Worse than Rutracker in amount of content and the files on Soulseek are almost always trash quality. Why would you bother?

I started my What.cd "career" by downloading some popular albums in FLAC and MP3 V0 the instant they became available.
The ones who generated more upload for me were the Daft Punk Random Access Memories that came out at the time, by coincidence.

Public knowledge being spread about Usenet obliterated it and started DMCA takedowns.

I remember when plebs didn't know about usenet and it had no takedowns. Then there were daily threads on /g/. Then eventually takedowns started.

So why ruin a good thing by blabbering about it? These threads serve no purpose. They just wave a big LOOK AT ME flag.

Usenet servers run for commercial purposes. They can be taken down very quickly unless they comply with DMCA.

Private trackers are donation-based operations whose server is hidden within many different services and the files are stored by the users on their own hardware.

Nobody is taking down private trackers unless those private trackers operate in a stupid gay cuck country like Sweden or Jew countries like the US.

Private trackers will get taken down one way or another if the publisher cartel decides to target them.

Private trackers are just flying under the radar for now. The more you spread awareness the closer the day comes that they are added to the hit list.

And what is the purpose of these threads other than to attract attention? You are just being attention whoring little kids.
>>
>>46704166
The publisher cartel will never target them, because they have too few members.

Even usenet, with way more members, only gets DMCA takedowns.

Are you naive enough to think that a government couldn't figure out who's running what?
>>
>>46705659
Are you technologically inept enough to think a government can figure out who is running What, much less think a government actively looks for that info?

I have a seedbox running rutorrent, how do I create a torrent with my own files? when I click create new torrent it only show the directories and files that I have already downloaded? how do I upload my own files?
>>
>>46705728
I don't know how seedboxes work
But i'm pretty sure you have to upload your files to the seedbox first.

The US feds take down darknet sites pretty regularly. What.cd would be child's play to take down if they wanted to. They just need to decide when they'd like to kill it.

I love what and other private trackers I'm on, but they aren't going to last forever. It really is only a matter of time before they're shut down.
>>
>>46705850
>The US feds take down darknet sites pretty regularly

Because they are pedo sites, not torrent sites. Get a clue.
>>
>>46705850
>>I love what and other private trackers I'm on, but they aren't going to last forever. It really is only a matter of time before they're shut down.

That's why you move to another tracker when one is shut down. It's not that hard.
>>
>>46706010
>That's why you move to another tracker when one is shut down. It's not that hard.

No shit, I'm just saying that people that say these sites are going to be around forever are retarded.
>>
Anyone have a spare waffles inv?
A kind Anon was going to share one with me the other week, but my power went out and I missed a great opportunity. I am a member of other private trackers. I have been itching for one of these for quite some time now.
>>
>>46706043
>I'm just saying that people that say these sites are going to be around forever are retarded.

Nobody says What.cd specifically is going to be around forever, retard, but people do say that private torrent sites will always exist and that is a certainty, so who gives a shit if What.cd dies or other trackers die? We just move to another one and nobody gives a fuck.
>>
>>46706086
>people do say that private torrent sites will always exist and that is a certainty
These people are also retarded. I've seen quite a few file sharing protocols come and go over the years I've been pirating shit. All the trends I'm seeing indicate that torrents will eventually give way to other methods that provide greater anonymity to downloaders/uploaders. It's just the way things work.
>>
>>46698150
Having choice is better than having one single "best" release. You're a retard.

No shit. The only important thing is that piracy will never go away, so I don't see why you are calling anybody retarded when this is all that matters.
>>
>>46706249
>Having choice is better than having one single "best" release. You're a retard.

PTP does have choice. However, none of the choices are shit, unlike the choices you have at public tracker.

Enjoy your shitty KAT encodes, pleb.
>>
so how many of you guys ratio cheat? i used to on every tracker. flashed 2tb on what.cd and never got banned, so i never needed to seeeed again
>>
>>46706315

How about reading the fucking original post I was replying to?

>Are you technologically inept enough to think a government can figure out who is running What, much less think a government actively looks for that info?

This is an incredibly naive and retarded attitude.
>>
>>46706385
They can't do shit to a private tracker unless the admin is a complete retard who gives them a way to shut them down.
>>
>>46706408
HA! That's hilarious. The feds can, and will do whatever the fuck they want.
>>
>>46706441
The Feds don't do shit because they will reveal their power level to the public and that will hurt them even more.
>>
>>46706368
How does one go about this?
Link? Methods? Life?
>>
>>46706477
>The Feds don't do shit because they will reveal their power level to the public and that will hurt them even more.
You're kidding right? They shut down websites all the time, often with little legal justification. Normals don't care.
>>
how tribal
http://what.faggot.tree.jpg.to
>>
>>46706519
They shut down websites that make it easy for them to shut down. Private trackers are not easy to shut down. A good private tracker is beyond paranoid with security and no Fed would even care to take it down much less try to ID the owner since they are so small and don't operate for profit.

Love to see you try, capt keyboard warrior, do you really think that I post things that would ever directly tie to me? Private trackers have nothing to do with countries or laws. They are about having organized access to well curated content, with good retention, and high quality, with evidence of said quality.
